At one point in time, how movies were translated for the Chinese market went like this: You'd get Mandarin subtitles, and maybe the dialog would be dubbed (but probably not). This would be shown all over China and her satellite countries, with no changes made to the dubbing or subtitles. This meant that a good number of people wouldn't know WTF was going on unless the cast did very broad acting (think exaggerated silent film acting). So, any movie which had a sophisticated plot would be incomprehensible to large numbers of people. I don't know if that's still the case or not, but it would explain why folks had a "taste" for a certain style of filmmaking.
This. Plus others seem to think they can bring their own facts to the party. Right. This and that scene didn't land for me. I just didn't like it. Wrong. This movie sucks, because Luke was purple with green polka dots. Really fucking wrong. It's my OPINION he was purple with polka dots!! I have a right to my own delusional reality!! You're a buwwy, weave me awone!! Full on retarded. Yeah! Weave him awone! Even though he trolled up the thread for three pages. The rules work for him, and against you, because...REASONS! His Luke is purple! So there! ....also, Rian Johnson killed a teenage girl in the 70's.
Yeah, that's some nice e-peening, but did you Google the difference between subjective and objective yet?
You can see in this post that Diacanu doesn't understand a thing said by anyone else in this entire thread.
But do you understand the difference between subjective and objective yet? You're bucking like an angry bull to avoid that one for some reason.
agreed. I think a severed hand would lose its grip with all that bouncing around and whatever is falling remains in one piece. Also, the hand and saber fell well before Luke's leap. Doubtful that all three items would come to rest in the same place.
Again, my Youtube reply: This definitely exactly how it should have gone down and would have made for an epic sequel to TFA and probably the best Star Wars movie so far. Too bad Rian Johnson screwed it all up.
TLJ comes to streaming March 17th, to Blu-Ray and 4k the 27th. Damn, that's fast! https://www.cbr.com/star-wars-the-last-jedi-home-release-dates/
It was the highest grossing movie of 2017 and it took in a lot of its box office in 2018. It's grossed $1.3 billion. It isn't exactly a failure.
Who said they failed? I just said they didn't make as much as they wanted. Hopefully Diacanu and WAB buy like 20 copies each to help push the dollar count.
Rose wasn't unlikable, but she's still a pretty lame character to get so much time in a Star Wars film, and the Canto Bight sequence would've been better with Finn and Poe. And, as I suggested elsewhere, THAT's where I would've had Phasma (another under-used character I like) show up. I like the Finn and Poe dynamic, and I hope we'll get to see them interacting more in the next film.
Of course they are. This isn't new and it's not really news. According to this article from a while back, movie tie-in toy sales are bombing in general. It also doesn't help that movie attendance is down and giant toy retailer Toys 'R Us went tits up. Of course, there's also the reality that pretty much everyone who hoarded The Phantom Menace toys back in late 1990s got completely fucked over by the fact that no one even wants the damn things any more. Why anyone thought they would carry the same value (monetary or sentimentally) as the original trilogy toys was beyond me anyway.
