The casting of Del Toro really excites and fascinates me. I hope he's as good in Star Wars as he was in Sicario.
Daisy Ridley confirms that Ep8 picks up right where TFA left off. http://www.superherohype.com/news/3...lks-star-wars-episode-viii-and-luke-skywalker
Interesting. We have not had an immediate sequel in this franchise yet. Even the gap between 5 and 6 was a year or two if I recall correctly. I remember reading the shadows of the empire novel and playing the n64 game which filled in the gap between those two movies.
I moved the home release TFA posts to the correct thread. I didn't even notice at first that this one was about episode VIII!
Alleged plot breakdown (possible spoilers).... https://m.reddit.com/r/StarWarsLeaks/comments/4egl1i/episode_viii_script_leak_please_debunkconfirm/
There's a couple of things that makes me think that it could be real or maybe somewhat real. It's been said that Ryan Johnson wants two things, one being an, "I am your father" moment and the other he wants to do some weird shit with the force. Now knowing those two things, anyone could put together something and pass it off as real, so this could very well be fake. Another thought that crossed my mind is maybe TPTB put these things out there to test reaction from fans, so it could be real. If it is real then I could see it making sense because of the parallel between the force, the Jedi and Buddhism.
Let me remind you, SW speculation has NEVER been dead on. NEVER. Through the prequel years, NOBODY got the titles right, NOBODY got plot even vaguely right, NO ONE nailed it, NO ONE. I don't expect this pattern to change.
With respect, the MakingStarWars site posted the plot of Force Awakens 6 months, if not a year before and it was accurate.
Apparently the rumor originated at Badass Digest. They were pretty spot on. This is what makes me think that these plot leaks are intentional. I think maybe JJ or someone in the Disney camp wanted to see what fans thought. There was a huge negative reaction and they changed the opening. http://makingstarwars.net/2014/07/thoughts-opening-star-wars-episode-vii/
So that's an article about a rumor. There is nothing in either to demonstrate it was the original intention. But even if it were, so what, it didn't happen, so it's officially not part of the story.
If they have another 'I am your father' moment then fuck this franchise. That's some 'Star Trek Into Darkness' type shit. Regurgitate past movies because they have no original ideas of their own. If all they can do is recreate past movies scene by scene they shouldn't even bother. I'll give a pass on episode 7 since it was restarting the franchise with new characters...
If they're really going with they're playing with something as potentially dangerous as Jar-Jar or midi-chlorians. It doesn't strike me that Disney wants to take big risks with the saga films yet.
