Still think we shouldn't accept refugees?

I'm not sure that there's any point of applying for asylum in Turkey unless you're running for Interpol or a Mexican drug cartel. Along with the other countries, you're basically talking Europe's armpit. 20th generation Turks with every legal document imaginable move to Germany.

What's "a lot"? A majority? A sizeable minority? And doesn't that simply enhance the need for them to be processed outside of Europe?

I've zero doubt there are some from other areas, and with oil being so low we're going to see more Nigerians heading to Europe, but the point is that these people are dying. That's not acceptable when we can do something about it, but won't.

No, we should make sure we do as little as possible and screw up at ever turn. It's the Obama way

West 'ignored Russian offer in 2012 to have Syria's Assad step aside'

Russia proposed more than three years ago that Syria’s president, Bashar al-Assad, could step down as part of a peace deal, according to a senior negotiator involved in back-channel discussions at the time.

Former Finnish president and Nobel peace prize laureate Martti Ahtisaari said western powers failed to seize on the proposal. Since it was made, in 2012, tens of thousands of people have been killed and millions uprooted, causing the world’s gravest refugee crisis since the second world war.

Ahtisaari held talks with envoys from the five permanent members of the UN security council in February 2012. He said that during those discussions, the Russian ambassador, Vitaly Churkin, laid out a three-point plan, which included a proposal for Assad to cede power at some point after peace talks had started between the regime and the opposition.

But he said that the US, Britain and France were so convinced that the Syrian dictator was about to fall, they ignored the proposal.

At the time of Ahtisaari’s visit to New York, the death toll from the Syrian conflict was estimated to be about 7,500. The UN believes that toll passed 220,000 at the beginning of this year, and continues to climb. The chaos has led to the rise of Islamic State. Over 11 million Syrians have been forced out of their homes.

“We should have prevented this from happening because this is a self-made disaster, this flow of refugees to our countries in Europe,” Ahtisaari said. “I don’t see any other option but to take good care of these poor people … We are paying the bills we have caused ourselves.”

Just a few days ago Obama warned Russia not to send more troops into Syria because it would be doubling down on a doomed strategy. :brood:

Obama warned? :dayton: Do tell! I think if he wants to say "he's dissapointed" that is his perogative. But a warning means nothing if you have no intention of backing it up.

2012 was when Asad used poison gas and Obama was going to invade Syria over it. The Republicans, who had been calling for Syria to be invaded, suddenly flipped a 180 called Obama a war monger, and voted in the house to not allow military strikes in Syria proving what immoral shit stains without principles.

That is when this offer for Asad to leave was made but it was retracted the moment the Republicans made it clear they wouldn't allow military action. Instead they negotiated for Syria to give up its chemical weapons but make no mistake the Republicans killed the deal to get Asad to step down. They always fuck this country over trying to play patrician games for the domestic audience.

Your timeline is completely off. The Russian offer to have Assad step down was in February of 2012. Obama first said Assad would be held accountable if he used gas was in July of 2012, and Hillary first called it a "red line" in August of 2012. He repeated his warning in December of 2012. Then in March of 2013 (over a year after he'd rejected the offer to have Assad step down) reports of a chemical weapons attack surfaced. By May Obama was saying it would be a game changer but more evidence is needed. By August of 2013 he was laying out a rational for airstrikes. By September 2013 support for striking Syria collapsed, in part because Kerry kept describing the planned strikes as "unbelievably small."

So the events you describe were a year and a half after Obama had rejected the Russian offer to have Assad step down.

As predicted the angry muslim welfare migrants turn violent and start rioting. Throwing bricks, rocks, using sticks, iron rods, and broken bottles as weapons. The Hungarians are using tear gas and water cannons to push them back as they attempted to break down the border fence.

Yeah, but just because the migrants turned Syria into a bombed-out wasteland doesn't mean they might be violent.

The smart ones immediately rerouted to Croatia as soon as Hungary closed the border. It seems most of them weren't that bright though and now it is only a matter of time until Croatia closes it's borders to the violent hordes.

Oh, goodie. They are chanting Allah ackbar and death to the Crusaders as they attack Hungarian law enforcement. Nope, nothing to be concerned about here.

So far just on riot wing websites and I am waiting for a more main stream news source. BBC has said they were chanting Allah akbar (god is great but also a traditional muslim battle cry favored by terrorists) yet skipped mentioning how they were chanting fuck you and death to crusaders while attacking Hungarian police.

That BBC report says they chanted Allah Akbar and "obscenities" at the Hungarian police they were attacking as they tried to over run the border check point. Police responded with tear gas and water cannons. Numerous other websites say those "obscenities" were "fuck you" and "death to the Crusaders" which is some how a generic we hate white people and/or Christians type chant among Arabs.

Definitely not the type of migrants who should be let in.

Definitely some unsavory scenes at the Hungarian border. Behaving like hooligans by fighting with the police and trying to force their way through barriers - not exactly the sort of people Europe should be welcoming with open arms. I actually like Cameron's idea of finding genuine refugees - families and kids rather than the rabble of male youths that we tend to see in these pictures- in camps in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey etc. and bringing them over in a proper manner. This will stop the mad rush prompted by Merkel through Europe, to Germany and Sweden. Now that Germany has sent a welcome message to all Syrian refugees, who can blame them for not wanting to move to Germany? Better that than stuck in a squalid refugee camp or worse, still in war-torn Syria.
But it would have been nice of Merkel to have consulted with her neighbors and getting their permission to allow thousands of refugees to pass through their countries before sending this invite - that would have helped to avoid the chaotic scenes we're seeing in Hungary.

What a shame - the Balkans used to be such a nice neighborhood. We left our doors unlocked, everyone watched out for each other. That's my apartment, the building on the right, top floor, the unit on the end of the building. What a view!

Looks like @Dinner is quite correct about the percentage of Syrians in the migrant numbers.

It also shows the ones making the trip aren't, as I've mentioned before, the most desperate as they're paying thousands for the trip. Europe is at least going to start to talk about doing something, so we'll probably see some action by the EU at an undefined point in the future

At least there are discussions about setting up assemement camps in Africa, so saving many a death in the Med.

Not surprising. Lots of chancers from impoverished regions will be rushing to Germany believing they have an opportunity to reach Western Europe. The sad truth is that the people that are genuinely oppressed and fleeing for their lives are still struggling to leave Syria. Or have made their way to refugee camps in surrounding countries where conditions are hardly great. These people don't have the means to pay smugglers thousands of dollars to reach their European destination of choice.

With 84% of these illegal alien criminals not being Syrians (any reasonably intelligent person could tell that just looking at the videos of all the Africans and south Asians who couldn't speak Arabic claiming they were Syrians) it seems Carmen was right in refusing to let them in and instead saying he would only take varified refugees from official UN camps in the region.

And now the violent animals are attacking Croatian police. Slovenia and Austria better have their southern borders sealed because the violent animals are heading their way. All because that idiot Merkel ran her mouth and promised free welfare and housing to anyone who could get there. All of the other countries should be sticking Germany with the bill for this since it is Merkel's fault.

84% of the welfare seeking illegal alien migrants aren't even from Syria.

Croatia calls an emergency EU meeting saying they need help both dealing with the illegal migrants flooding into the country and to help seal it's borders.

Meanwhile, in Turkey the hordes of illegal aliens just keep coming. They all want the same thing, not safety, but welfare and free money.

Fuck Croatia. Those men have a right to rape, rob, and murder their way through Europe. It is the will of Allah.

Allahu Akbar. La ilaha illa Allah. Wah Mohammed rasool Allah.

It's easy to find very sympathetic photos of refugees because when it comes to mothers at the end of their ropes after walking for fifteen hours without hope, we are all the same; they are all the same. We all would load every one of them up in helicopters and fly them to a nice hotel with a Continental breakfast. But with them comes the same stew of Islamic ideas that turned secular Syria into a wasteland. The Syrian government grabbed at the brass ring of dictatorial socialism because it seemed to offer a path forward from religious barbarism, but it was just a more roundabout path to confronting the same monster. The older men may be wiser, but the younger ones have spent the last few years bathed in hatred and violence from all sides. Some are seeking to escape it, but some have been consumed by it. It has shaped them. If you are not 100 percent on their side, then you are their enemy.

Croatian PM caves to continued violence and agrees to transport illegal aliens intent on welfare fraud further north so the violent animals become someone else's problem. The trouble is there are ever more landing in Greece and with 84% of them not even Syrian and not even refugees it is clear the 3rd world has flushed it's toilets on Europe.

Even worse is that this, once again, confirms in the minds of the savages that violence gets them what they want. All they have to do is attack enough people and they can have their way.

Europe: Lawless, indecisive, and weak. Why shouldn't they rape it? The Euros obviously won't save themselves.

Wow, you sound like a massive racist. You know, describing people in dehumanising terms has been the first step to every genocide in history.

Also, maybe you should have availed yourself of the free education on offer as you appear to have serious problems with spelling.

I am sorry the truth offends you. It is still, however, the truth. 84% of them are just economic migrants with absolutely no claim to refugee status. They are indeed violent and what do we call people who routinely use violence to get what they want? Animals seems an apt term especially in this case. Therefor I do not care if truth and reality upset you delicate sensibilities as they still as the truth.
