Let's step back and look at why there's a dead child. There are quite a few perspectives, but I'll offer up a new one.

Syria fell into chaos due to a laundry list of historical problems. Way too many of them started trying to kill each other, reducing many of its cities into vast, bombed out rubble, while roving gangs of angry males turned vast stretches into dangerous wastelands. Millions fled to refugee camps in neighboring countries, or were internally displaced. Some start trying to flee to Europe, where they can get free housing in a nice climate, along with food and other social safety net supports. Then Germany and some other countries, feeling all emotional, offer to let them in. It's like a bank giving out free money. A child died in the resulting stampede, and horrified people are blaming the bank for not handing out money fast enough.

Remember, their kind also believe "Intellectual" is an insult.

No, John. Reality isn't remotelt like that. Try playing the ball and not the man. 80% multigenerationally unemplyed, 70% high school drop out rate, kids declaring what they want to be when they grow up is a welfare recipient. That image that I posted is truly awful. It really is terrible. I remember the first time I saw it. I couldn't do anything but stare at that poor, dead child, laying in the sand. It shook me to the core. It was devastating. It was a sign that we, as human beings, had made a terrible mistake somewhere. I remember reading a post on Facebook, with that picture, that said they were glad, and that it was one less mouth to feed. They were overburdened, there was no room. The sentiments as stated were atrocious in every way, something sentient, thinking beings should never say about what I was seeing in that image, and yet there it was. I see those same sentiments coming from Dinner.

He can hate that I'm not posting statistics, or rebuttals, but what rebuttals would I have to offer? What do you say to someone who is absolutely firm in their hatred of these people? He called them parasites; He called them uneducated, and lazy. I posted that picture, hoping he'd see it and at least stop for a moment, even if it was nothing more than "that is awful, but..." yet what I got was a "dumb" rating, and nothing. He doesn't give a shit about these people's lives, or their deaths, he just doesn't want them in his backyard; He doesn't want them taking from his taxes.

I hear these thoughts expressed all of the time, mostly from people who are directing them towards black people, or Mexicans. They need to learn the language, they need to get off the government tit, they need to go back to where they came from. I hear it all of the time; utterly ignoring the sheer hell of what these people traverse just to get here. They're less than human to people such as this; they're not worth thinking about, worrying about, or even mourning when they die. All of the facts and figures in the world won't move a person if they've already decided that these people are less than human. Emotionalism gets a response, so I give it. I was hoping compassion, and empathy would get a response, but the response I got was just more of the same; a total disregard of the human cost in favor of the inconvenience levied against one's idea of economic parity. You can't argue against that. You can't. So I didn't.
