Surgery

Just thought I'd let the internet know I'm getting surgery in 14 hours (7:30 AM, California time). Hella crazy! I've never had a major surgery before, so this should be interesting. It's a major surgery, but minor at the same time. They are fixing my jaw. I have a major underbite so they are going to remove 2 sections of my lower jaw, cut out my upper jaw, and then implant those 2 sections into my upper jaw moving it forward. Basically, move my top jaw forward and bottom jaw backwards. bye bye solid food for like a month!! It's doubtful I'll be posting for a few days, since I will be in the hospital all Wednesday and into Thursday morning. I will be pretty fucked up right after surgery so I probably won't post again until the weekend if even then! See you later Wordforge!

When I had some oral surgery, I thought I would be eating soup for a month. Until I realized that that was like rubbing salt into a wound.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to be wired shut for 2 weeks, then I'll be able to open my mouth a tiny bit. I'm going to be on soft foods for like the next month. fun fun fun!! =/

I'm back and I hurt like a bitch!! I look like a chipmunk. It's fucking horrible!! I'll explain more later. I need to go lie down. The morphine was fucking amazing!! I have liquid Tylenol with codeine right now. it is just ok.

Codeine makes me nauseated. You need Morphine Sulphate straight from an IV drip (if you can.)

I'm in a lot of pain. The surgery ended up being more intense than I thought it would be. They did what I thought they would, take out 2 sections of my lower jaw, move that back, take those sections and implant them into my upper jaw moving it forward, but I didn't realize they would also split my upper jaw in half and widen it also! I'm on some liquid Tylenol with codeine. It's ok, but I want more of that morphine that I had in the hospital!
So my roommate that night was an ex-con who had killed his pancreas from heavy drinking over 20 years. He couldn't eat or drink at all. He was crazy. He was nice to me, but scared me at the same time.
The nurses sucked balls, well mostly the night one. She was hella bad! I want more food. I ate some soup earlier. I'm drinking Ensure right now. I'm getting some Mango Lasse from our local Indian place later. It will be amazing!! I love that stuff so much!!
Right now I'm at like a 7/10 on pain, only because I took codeine like an hour ago. It was like an 8-9/10 earlier. So incredibly painful!!

Jesus, man. I can't even conceive of the operation you just described. It doesn't seem to me like the human head is designed for that kind of shit.

I got my wisdom teeth out at 14, almost 15. it was super easy compared to most people. My only big problem was that I had tons of canker sores. Other than that, it was a breeze! This surgery is one of the worst things that has ever happened to me! I did tear my MCL at 13, which was horrible, but I don't think it compares to this. I'm ready to die now! Not really, but it's a nice thought at times! Well, off to bed! Night internet!

I'm definitely feeling better now! It's great! My nose is hurting today, but I'm getting tingling in my bottom lip, which I believe is a sign I'm starting to get feeling back there. I wish my upper jaw was the one without feeling!!! Whatever, I'm doing better which is what is important! The codeine is making me dopey though. I think I'm ok, but then I stumble around on things and almost fall over. I enjoy the feeling I'm getting on codeine, but I wouldn't enjoy falling!! That could be really bad.

Well, I just endured 2 days of living hell. On Monday, I was feeling really sick to my stomach. I threw up 4 times and couldn't drink for over 24 hours. I had to go to the ER this morning at 6 AM and get some IV and meds to help me. It was not fun, but I felt way better afterwards! I haven't been getting much sleep during the night and instead just slept during the day. I'm currently drinking some ginger ale, which is helping.
I have some great news though, my jaw is doing really well! I can't wait to have a great day again!! I'm completely off the codeine now since the pain is so much decreased!!

My sister had the same surgery about 35 years ago.
