That may be the case here in part, or maybe not at all. But where that system exists it is not at all legitimate - particularly if it is the result of longstanding oppression. And redistributing such land to the people who work it is not likely to lead to anything like what happened in Zimbabwe.

The ANC specifically is talking about farmland. Namely, give it to its supporters and taking it from supporters of other parties. People who have no experience farming, no idea how to do it on a commercial basis, no farm equipment, and no access to seeds or fertilizer or pesticides, and no access to capital. What could go wrong?

I would remind people this garbage has been done in Tanzania, Chad, and Zimbabwe and it resulted in a collapse of the agricultural economy as well as food supplies. Given that agriculture usually makes up a large percentage of a developing country's economy this usually causes the national economy to also sink into depression. But who cares as long as the ANC has something left to pillage and their supporters get some trinkets, right?

Most of their population got killed by disease very early even before major colonization attempts. The groups who support the ANC tend to be people like Zulus who hostprically didn't live in the southern and western portions of South Africa and tge areas they did control was mostly due to killing or enslaving the people who were there before them.

So it was very sparsely populated by Khoisan, most Khoisan died from introduced diseases, Europeans started arriving arpund the Cape, and at around the same time Bantu herdsmen started arriving from the North settling in the north and eastern parts of the country.

I heard an interview with one South African farmer who immigrated there from Russia in the late 1990's, who worked hard as a civil engineer for 20 years and was paid well but said he was unhappy working in an office so he sold everything and invested everything ge had into buying a small farm. The ANC will no doubt want to take it on some flimsy pretext and dumb shits like @14thDoctor won't even get the irony of all this because ge is too mentally limited to understand the guy wasn't there before apartheid ended and he literally worked his way up but some how there must be racially based blood guilt.

There's a big difference between a tyrant losing his imperial holdings because the populace revolted, and a farmer losing his land because some politicians decided to steal it simply to prop up their standing among the electorate.

 

The electorate had been turning against the ANC with the last two regional elections going against the ANC and finally voting for a different party plus the previous President had to resign due to corruption. Running them off then doing nothing with the land (or working it but not doing as good a job) will not benefit the nation. It will only raise food prices higher.

Another great article which low infirmation dullards like 14D should read to educate themselves. The reality is over the last quarter century 90% of all claims of unjust land seizures during the last 100 years have already been settled and either new land provided or (in most cases) cash compensation provided. There is no righteous social justice issue her as virtually all claims have been legally settled and compensation paid.

In public polling the "land issue" polls in just the very low single digits as far as thinking it is a problem which needs government action. So why is the ANC and the EFF so hell bent on stealing the property of whites? Simple, it is something they can loot to enrich themselves and use to bribe followers and nothing more. They are willing to destroy property rights in the country and thus the national economy simply to enrich themselves and further their own corruption and they are willing to destroy profitable private businesses in order to do so.

No, this will not end well especially as the national economy is already poorly performing (below that of sanctions hit and isolated Russia and well below the population growth rate) and now it is just going to get worse. There is no social justice issue and this is just racist theives veing racist theives and nothing more.

 

I will remind people that the strict, draconian even, racial quota system the ANC has put in place on businesses has resulted in a large number of businesses simply leaving South Africa or not investing due to the fact that they cannot meet the requirements. They want 90% of every category including doctors, lawyers, engineers, computer scientists, etc... to be black but those skilled black workers simply don't exist in the needed numbers. The obvious solution is to improve public education so more of these skilled people are created but the ANC has consistently slashed education funding and dumbed down education because investing in it got in the way of ANC corruption (over 1/3rd of the national budget simply goes missing each year because ANC officials stole it).

Worse, the few trained high skilled people they do have are usually white or Asian but the ANC has outlawed hiring them if that means white workers would make up more than 6.8% of a company's work force. The result? Brain drain as skilled workers leave the country to find employment else where thus making the chronic skills shortage worse.

This is how racist black nationalist politics has worked in every African country it has ever been tried in (and there have been numerous examples) and never once has it ever ended well. Saying the government is going to steal private property without compensation will just mean no company will invest because who wants their investiment simply stolen by thugs and theives?
