Because the only place in the entire fucking world where we can buy oil is Iran, or even the whole middle east.

Should their internal politics affect us that much, the problem is not the politics themselves, but the fact that we've put ourselves in a position that we're so dependent on them, rather than building up our own drilling and refining capacity. If I had my way, we'd tap every deposit at our disposal, line the coasts with refineries, and let the entire middle east fucking rot.

Maybe, but at least I'm honest.

As if any of you bullshitters are typing your posts on a flight to Tehran, where you will join in protest of rigged elections and fight for an honest democratic process.

It's not just the Iranian oil I am talking about but also the Straits of Hormuz, where 20% of the worlds oil supply passes through.

And in a perfect world, my farts would smell of unicorns and rainbows.

Neither that nor your situation are the case, so we are back to you being an ignoramus by saying you are not affected by the situation in Iran. :bergman:

I'm affected by our own short-sighted interational trade policies and internal regulations. If it weren't for those, what happens with the Iranians wouldn't matter. Their indirect impact on me and mine is only a symptom of the real problem, and that problem is what deserves our attention.

Bullshit. M.E. oil is both easier to extract and much MUCH easier to refine than what we got. Even if the oilcos were given a free for all in the U.S. we would still get a very large part of our oil from the Middle East.

Yeah, except for the backwards, unstable cultures we have to deal with, it's a wonderful arrangement. What was I thinking?

Doesn't change the reality of geography, oil refining, and economics.

You can rant and rave about how much life sucks and it's not fair, but the reality is that the world economy is dependent upon M.E. oil, and M.E. oil is dependent on the political/economic situation in the M.E. The fact that you either can't grasp that, or can't accept that makes you a moron.

    Fuck Iran.

How many times have you parasites here told us that Amademajad was just a blustering wind bag figurehead when he spouted off about destroying Israel and the real power is in the hands of the Mullahs?

    So, that's changed now?

    Wait.

Are you really asking a soldier why he is concerned about the political situation not only of one of the powerhouses in a region where we have giant stake, is a state sponsor of terrorism and is on the path to nuclear weapons but that borders our two largest theaters of operation why he is concerned?

In light of that, I have to say it's not condescension to call you a moron, it's just plain being blunt.

*sigh* I'd try to explain the impact it had on Lech Walesa and other Solidarity members, just as one example, but I doubt you even know who and what those things are. :(

    :wtf:

Wow man. That came across as unbelievably self-righteous. I live in a town full of 'soldiers' and there's probably 5 of them that would even give a fuck about this. In fact, I don't think I've ever met a 'soldier' nearly as preachy as you in my life.

If by self righteous, you mean someone that gives a fuck, yeah I guess so. It was a stupid question to ask, following a long line of stupid statements and I don't see the problem pointing it out.

Reading Comprehension and Context aren't your friends are they?

I WAS ASKED A DIRECT QUESTION AS TO WHY I CARED ABOUT THE ISSUE.

    I ANSWERED IT.

Well, the supreme leader has called for an enquiry into the election.
This could be to calm down and cover up or it could be a recognition of the fact that Iran won't calm down until this is resolved.

Considering the head of the Guardian Council, Ayatollah fuck if I remember, publicly endorsed Ahmnotevengonnatry before the election, I don't really expect alot to come from the investigation.

Who knows... the SL might see the writing on the wall and realizes that a Reformist is better than a Revolution.
