Seattleite. Well, adopted; Originally Kansan. We served together in 9th POG. Then he and his (then) fiancée (now ex) lived with us in Columbia City for a bit while finding a place to settle in while he went to U-Dub Law. Picked Cap Hill and he and my brother (who lived up there at the time) got to be close.

They moved in (with my trailer) to the CHOP back in the day and helped provide security.

Supposedly, in ~10 months, the Russians have lost ~90K soldiers in Ukraine. The US didn't lose that many in the decade we were in Vietnam. (Let alone the 20 years we were in Iraq and Afghanistan.)

Regarding the armored vehicles, their tactics have been jaw-droppingly bad from the beginning, when they still had supposedly experienced crews and leaders in place.

The earliest videos I saw from the war showed them bunching up, in the open, not taking advantage of cover or even concealment.

Oh, and I decided to look up how many Soviet soldiers died in Afghanistan. The low estimate is 9K (official Soviet numbers), the high estimate is 26K. Still far lower than what they've lost in Ukraine in less than a year.
