density and culture do play a part. As does easy availability of guns a short shopping trip away.

I don't think you understand the word "deflection". I've provided statistical evidence (i.e., facts) that completely destroy your original assertion. Simply put, on a per capita basis those so-called "rural areas" fare significantly worse than urban areas with regard to gun violence and deaths.

Let me know if you'd like to me explain "per capita" to you.

So ... close. I used to go down to Lincoln Park and hike there with a friend. It's a great park right on the waterfront.

Or a new Amiga computer (circa 1990), which, damn, I wish I'd at least kept the PPK and the S&W M29.

My guess -- universal background checks wouldn't cause them to lose money, but they have figured out that gun owners' paranoia is a fantastic marketing tool.

Keeping people constantly fired up because they think that THE LIBERALS ARE COMING TO TAKE OUR GUNS helps the manufacturers juice sales, so they feed into that narrative as much as they can. Plus, because it's become a culture war thing, any manufacturer that spoke out in favor of a UBC would lose sales to other companies as the wingnuts declared them to be traitors to the cause.

You use the word "need" and yet you use the word "collection" in the same paragraph without realizing. A lot of people are collectors. They collect guns the same way some people collect comic books, plates with Norman Rockwell paintings on them, glass animals, whatever. if you're a collector, you don't just want (want, not need) one lever action rifle, you want an 1860 Henry, a '66 Yellowboy, a '73 Winchester, an '86, a '92... oh, and they each come in a variety of calibers, so ... Me, I like action films, so I wanted to collect the guns used in my favorite films and see what they were like to shoot, and have some fun at the outdoor range.

That's undeniably true. But doesn't have anything to do with gun laws nor does it have any correlation to the parenting skills of neighboring areas. I mean, the parents in the neighboring areas may have the same parenting attitude as parents within that neighborhood but that neighborhood doesn't have the violence.
So, that doesn't explain why violence in one neighborhood is greater than in another.

No, they aren't. If they were, why didn't Obama take them? Hell, Biden's in office now. Have you heard something I haven't with Democrats putting forth legislation to illegalize private gun ownership?

It's another one of those lies that are continuing to be repeated and people take those lies as truth because they have been repeated so many times.

Unlike actual legislation put forth by Conservatives who wish to take away women's rights.

the ones where the violent crime isn't concentrated. You can google crime data maps that pinpoint crime locations, in case you are interested in relocating.

I just questioned because the claim was about "Chicago". @Quest lives in Chicago and took a pic. Then you now want to talk about zip codes. My apologies. I assumed you knew what you were talking about.

WTF does that even mean? Hurling stereotypes is... well, prejudiced for one thing. Unuseful in a discussion. Though hurling stereotypes seems to be the way people "discuss" anything these days.

Talk to AOC and Beto. And Nancy and Dianne before them.
What do you think Biden's ban on 'assault rifles' intends? AR-types are the most popular and numerous rifles in the country, what do you suppose the intent of a ban is? That we DON'T 'turn them in'?

So the media and Guntrad crew are now saying one of the latest shootings is because of Applejack? It is not the reality we give every crazy a gun because @Uncle Albert, @Forbin , and @oldfella1962 are the mosty cowardly and craven assholes in the world and cannot imagine having to have some sort of requirement to gun ownership that might check if you are a nutjob. According to them crazies have to have guns because if they can't then they are coming to take their guns away. Maybe this is a fucking sign we should be taking the guns away from gunforge because they are crazy.

However, according to the world we need to get rid of MLP and Bronies because one of the gun lovers happened to be in love with a cartoon character. Maybe that is a reason we should not have given him a gun. I am actually cool with taking guns away from someone who wants to live in heaven with applejack. They are either five and should not have a gun, or they are older and we should probably give them an applejack waifu pillow and take the guns away.

Like always, the guntards are deflecting from the issue that these people exist all over the world and other countries where they ban guns or have some sort of hard test or reason to have guns do not have crazies shooting everyone up. Maybe MLP is not the issue, and the real issue is following the advice of guntards when establishing who can own guns.
