Forgers who are getting in shape for the first time, striving to return to past glory, or simply maintaining physical awesomeness - report your progress here.

Right now I'm getting back in shape. I'm taking the week of from lifting weights after a couple of months of significant gains, but still hitting the cardio pretty hard. I spent 60 minutes on the elliptical machine yesterday and my weight is currently 217. I need to drop about ten more pounds before I look as good as I did in the pic I posted in the green room.

I've lost ten kilos during the last 4 weeks because I have problems with my stomach again. Positive side effect! ;) But the all the vomiting is not very amusing :jayzus: I have 82 kilos now (height 184 cm) and quite happy with it. I hope I am not going to lose more weight, because I don't like to become a beanpole ;)

Just maintaining. Still biking, walking, taking the occasional (not often enough) yoga class.

But I've discovered that by not indulging the late-night snack-attack, I've been able to knock my BMI down from 21.5 to 21.

Lucky metabolism, and a little dedication. All I have to do is look at my overweight family members (the ones who are still alive, anyway) if I need motivation not to reach for that bag of chips...

Yeah, not bad. You lucky bastard! Give me two weeks and I could raise my weight to 90 kilos. I'm really jealous of people who can eat as much as they want and don't become fatties. Consider yourself blessed!

I started exercising again as well..mainly to cut back my cholestoral. It was a little elevated last time I went to the Doc. So I'm getting on the treadmill everyday(went Friday 15 mins, Sat, 15 mins, and Sunday 20+ mins!) and I'm feeling REALLY toned already!!!!! I haven't weighed myself yet and don't tend to until next Sunday morning. :) But I feel SO MUCH BETTER when I exercise! I hope I can do it today as well. I might do it even if I have to stay at work late for Mom's vehicle to be fixed.(our mechanic is fixing her A/C)

    Same here.

But on the bright side I only need to 'look' at weights and I gain muscle. :finger:

^^^which might explain why our stats are pretty close.

    Do you do breathing squats?

Take 80% of your 1RM(what I do), and do 20 reps with it, taking several breaths in between each rep.

Its a killer exercise....teaches you how to control your breathing. Plus it builds overall body mass.

You know what they say about squats? "Do squats. If you don't like them, do more."

    You're missing out dude. :D

I walked on the treadmill yesterday again for about 25 mins. I was really impressed with myself for my stamina! Then I stretched and did 30-35 situps. I also checked my bloodpressure and pulse..the pulse rate had gone up to 116!!! :) My goal is when I'm exercising to get it up to 200 for a few minutes. If I can do that, then I can loose a little weight. But I feel really tight and taught this morning and not so bloated. Plus, it's a great stress reliever and I'm glad I'm doing it. I'm gonna do it everyday. :D

I suppose im lucky in that i dont want to 'gain' the type of muscle you get in a gym.
The only use for that is impressing women, and im not really interested in the type of women who is impressed by something like that :)

Currently 265lbs, at 5'10". Beginning to monitor my caloric intake and good vs. bad in terms of quality of foods. Kinda shocked when I relaized that a single bagel, w/o topping was 270 calories... then adding as much peanut butter as I do makes it closer to 470 calories (I fucking love peanut butter). Still, I'm going to try and put all that behind me.

I do a lot of lifting at work so weights aren't necessary ATM, but I do need to do more cardiovascular work.

Edit: It may sound stupid (it kinda does to me too), but I'll probably buy WiiFit and see if it does me any good. Not as a complete workout supplement, but as a can't-make-it-out-of-the-house type deal.

Actually, having a decent amount of muscle is healthy on SO many levels.

And trust me, even with my high growth hormones and incredible testerone levels, it would still take me 3-4 years of pure dedication to have HUGE muscles.

You'll never find a climber in a gym working on muscle mass....

Yet you'll probably find them there working on muscular strength.

You seem to think that anyone who goes to the gym is going to end up looking like Arnold.

Man I feel like getting on the treadmill again and burning off that sandwich I had for lunch. I'm feeling alittle on the fat side right now. :) But as long as I do it EVERYDAY, I'll be doing great.

I think the idea is to be eating just enough so that your body naturally burns the amount of food you eat.

The added exercise should be for weight loss. At least thats how I approach it.

It amuses me when people say they don't lift weights because they don't want to develop huge muscles. Most people who go to the gym with the intention of gaining lots of muscle mass have a difficult time doing it. It's not something that just accidentally happens to you unless you're part of the small segment of the population who is genetically predisposed to easily gain muscle to the point where you look like a bodybuilder.

And free-weight lifts at the gym are an excellent way to develop muscular coordination and functional strength.

Be sure to drink the water, though. Managing to pound 1/2 to 1 gallon of water a day can have almost as much effect as strength training or cardio in triggering weight loss. Hard to believe, but I've seen it.
