As for mods not being able to ignore users... Well, it is part of the job so live with it. Nope. Rep is a secondary feature for people who use the board for the main purpose -- discussion and flaming. Cause remember, back then she was the troll who wasn't contributing anything of substance to the board, and she was calling him "Wormboy" and he wanted to get rid of her by labeling her a serial "derper."
Well, there you go Dinner. You're a charity case. They simply "tolerate" you. Your contributions to the site in terms of written content are not wanted or appreciated. When Truckstop John pulled this kind of dick-waving tough guy act on Caboose, he told John to fuck himself and walked. Caboose has never been back. And there you have the primary problem with the current "leadership" (and that term is used as loosely as possible). The members are treated as disposable, especially those with socio-political opinions that differ from those in charge. And for the record, I wasn't dumbing "dozens" of people. I have gone after those who richly deserved it, namely El Chump, Lubak & Liet. With Dickynoo and In & Out thrown in for good measure. Still waiting for Dul to acknowledge his role in all this.
All the more reason for the mods to avoid any hint of abusing the powers of their position. Especially when there is an easy and simple way to deal with it already. Gul just can't help himself though and every time someone gets to him he tries to use mod powers against them. It is his knee jerk reaction and shows a lack of character. Hell, I am not even sure the guy is capable of admitting he said or did anything wrong as he always seems to just double down. I at least admit it when it has been proven I was wrong about something. It might take a while but I do it. Has he ever done that?
I do think it is funny that when Flashlight was rage negging me Gul said it was just part of wordforge and tough; so I put Flashlight on ignore and solved the problem. Yet when Flashlight does the same to Gul then suddenly mod powers need to be pulled out and used even though no rules were broken. What a little bitch.
The ability to abuse mod powers is part of the fun in wanting to be a mod or administrator. You get to take revenge on your enemies. That's what Ancalagon wanted to do, indulge his petty vendettas. Oh, he tried to disguise his intentions within language that sounded reasonable to some (eliminate "derp," encourage more "serious" debate), but it was never anything more than a trojan horse for his revenge fantasies. Same thing here. Dul is mad because I tossed some "dumbs" his way because promises that were made to me behind the scenes were broken. So, he retaliates, but tries to couch it in terms of wanting people to use the board in the "proper" way and the way it was "meant" to be used.
Oh, you don't know the half of it. Last night, while I was actually attempting to post messages, I found that I was being prevented from posting until 2800 seconds had passed. So, to discourage me from "dumbing" him, Dul made it more difficult for me to actually...you know...post!
