Orson Welles version of The Trial is pretty remarkable. You quickly realize that Welles desperately needed a slightly larger budget than what he had. There’s some incredible shots in the movie, as it is.
Trump's second impeachment proved that the whole process is bullshit theater. If it didn't lead to a conviction and removal in that instance, it won't ever.
Correction: The process is valid, but roughly half of the jury was irredeemably tainted, in no small part through the intimidation tactics of the defendant.
Anyone want to bet that Congress will investigate this? I'll be surprised if the Republicans say anything about this at all.
Selling art is a GREAT way to launder money. https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/29/business/art-money-laundering-sanctions-senate/index.html
But this is not a particular feature of the 21st century GOP. That half the jury is tainted is a constant for America's two-party system, which is itself an unintended consequence of an outdated and inadequate constitutional framework.
Because any such convos happened only in your boozeaddled little mind and as tech admins and other people have explained any mod has the ability to see edits.
Um, hasn't the opposing party tried to at least start the impeachment process for every president since Clinton? Surprised it took them this long. I'm technically related to Biden, does this mean they're going to be looking into my finances? It would be hilarious if a president was impeached because I, something like a 23rd cousin, sold an ounce of weed however long ago it needs to be to be past the statute of limitations and didn't pay taxes on it. Especially since I'm similarly related to Trump.
On the contrary, it works extraordinarily well. You are assessing it by the wrong criteria. And this is why people like Biden don't want to drag the rest of the Republican party down with Trump, as justice would suggest they should.
The purpose of the two party system is to "manage" democracy - by presenting an extremely narrow choice, but both of which serve similar elite interests. It does that job very well.
The part that’s missing here is that when you throw humans into the mix, nothing works well, let alone extraordinarily well.
Giving FF more credit than he likely deserves, while it should take a crime to launch an impeachment, the definition of what constitutes "treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors" is within the sole determination of whatever sitting congress. So the early Congresses didn't consider such things as slave-owning and raping, ordering Japanese citizens into internment camps, etc. etc. to be worthy of impeachment. A given Congress can redefine what is an impeachment-worthy offense to the point where having a very bad, no-good, terrible son who takes nude pictures of himself and leaves them on his laptop which he then leaves in the custody of a computer repair shop long enough so that its contents are totally fair game. Just pulled that example out of thin air, don't mind me. Now the point of this is not to actually succeed in actually removing Joe Biden from office, because even BSC Republicans have to know that without a two-thirds majority in the Senate, they can't possibly do that. The point isn't even really to embarrass Biden because he can't be worried over this. The point is to throw some red meat to the base and to be able to say in town halls, fundraising letters and the like "I did my part to stop the Biden crime family." Oh and to "avenge" the impeachments of Trump. All the posters who are like "Don't mind me, I'm not a Trump supporter, I'm a fair-minded person who believes both sides are full of shit" should hopefully speak out against Republicans attempting to equalize what Trump was accused of (and manifestly and obviously did) with the fake-ass crimes that the Republicans are trying to lay at Biden's feet like "failure to protect the border."
Oh, and since the mods are evil anyway, could you change FF's avatar to Frank from MASH? He's totally a Frank. Conservative, tries to act like a tough guy, but then in the next breath, it's "waaah!! Hawkeye and Trapper are pickin' on meee!! ".
and why is that? Could it be that you have experienced a pattern in which you feel persecuted or singled out? Do you think other people in other situations may feel the same way, even though you've never experienced the same in those situations?
The way he behaves online makes it seem as if he goes through life feeling persecuted and aggrieved, like everyone is always out to get him.
I agree. And, despite my questions, I do not believe what he's saying. I was trying to show him that just because he doesn't experience persecution, doesn't mean someone else is lying when they say they do. it hardly matters, I doubt he'd be able to think in that sort of abstract terminology. Despite my best efforts to dumb it down for him.
