Mine was a mild case, but it hurt like hell for a few days. I actually feel fine now, but my doctor said to go ahead and take a week off from work just to get rest and heal a bit.
So....is this still the "Clarence Thomas Death Watch" thread, or is it now the "Virginia Thomas is a traitor" thread?
Hey, @shootER ya got any thoughts about this? I know if a family member had said something like that about the Vietnamese gal I was dating, it'd have been a "Ain't none of ya'll strong enough to hold me back, so don't even try" kind of situation.
Marrying a black girl was my ultimate revenge on the Christers in my extended family who were the first to break out the racial jokes. Now they all like her better than they like me.
And why should I consider anything Reid said to be more noteworthy on the subject of race than a member of my own family? Or do you think that I've forgotten what Biden once said about Obama? I assume you think that you've somehow "owned" me with your comment, but really, all you've done is pointed out that there's a lot of unconscious racism in white Americans. And the sooner we admit that the sooner we can work to eliminate it.
Assuming you're being honest (dubious, at best), it still proves my point about unconscious racism in whites. Not merely the fact that Reid said it, but the fact that you thought it'd be funny to drop it into this thread.
There was a black guy in my Army Reserve unit in West Virginia. One of the sergeants one day was “trying” to complement him (I think) by saying “he’s black but he don’t know he’s black”. Dude was a super nice guy, so in the sargeant’s mind dude ‘didn’t know he was black”, cuz he didn’t act like black people he’d seen on tv or in the movies. I had to apologize to him later because I’d felt so bad for him to have to sit through shit like that.
Definitely preferable, although I've always wondered if sucking hot smoke (even if it's not loaded with tar, nicotine..whatever) into one's lungs is a good idea.
I dislike smoking in all forms. Edibles are the way to go. I’ve got a contact who provides me with canabutter. I can make anything an edible.
My ex and her current hubby (we're all friends...I hope...) live in Washington State and have a grow room in their basement and have a nice little business selling artistic roach clips. Ain't free enterprise great?
Nah, that's a your kind of "Christian" thing... I'm a Humanist, no book full of fairy-tales that can be twisted necessary for my moral compass...
Yes, part of a fantastic set of bills brought to you by the Democrats. This, protections against surprise medical bills, protections for full time workers not to be classified as contractors to deny them insurance, the end of capital punishment, forcing anyone who seeks a concealed carry to actually undergo in person training, limit the cost of insulin, and raising the minimum wage. They also stopped suspending licenses for unpaid fines, required background checks for all gun sales, granted human rights protections against gender and sexual orientation discrimination, and stopped arresting people if they seek medical help for addiction or overdose. Hell, they even made purchasing a gun safe cheaper. All while being rated the #1 state to do business in for the 2nd straight year - the first time in it's history that a state has ever won 2 years in a row. But yeah, we voted that out because Southern racists were upset that we taught real history in schools.
I thought it was funny because it's a dig at Reid and the Democrats in general because they constantly sit on their high horse preaching how everyone is so racist, except them of course, yet you still hear top ranking Democrats slip up from time to time by saying racially insensitive shit. And yes I know Harry Reid is dead, but there are still Democrats alive today who still say shit like that from time to time.
And you don't think this might help demonstrate the point that racism can be subtle and unconscious, and doesn't have to manifest itself as hoods and sheets in order to be real?
Well I suppose it's progress that you've got to this from asserting that unconscious racism isn't really a thing and that racism only really against against white people.
It has to be more egregious than some hypersensitive person perceiving a slight and calling it a "microaggression" if you want people ouside the grievance culture echo chamber to give a fuck, yes.
This from somebody who is deeply steeped in grievance culture, but just chooses not to acknowledge it as such.
from the guy who thinks teaching white kids about the racist history of the US is making them sad and is an aggressive attack on their race. Talk about your micro aggressions.
Do I need to preempt "I know you are but what am I?" every single fucking time? Just once, one of you could choose not to go the obvious schoolyard route.
If we never do anything to prosecute the people who tried to overthrow the government this is only suggestions for next time.
