Billionaire Harlan Crow, who lavished expensive vacations on Clarence Thomas, also bought properties from Clarence Thomas. Thomas' mother still lives in one of those properties. Crow then upgraded the house with a new roof, carport, and fences. https://www.propublica.org/article/clarence-thomas-harlan-crow-real-estate-scotus
Reminds me of a tweet I saw and will butcher: You can’t say he is a Nazi sympathizer just because he collects a lot of Nazi stuff. He also has a whole outdoor garden dedicated to statues and stuff from evil communist regimes. Oh, is this where he has his Nazi stuff? No. He built a special wing to his house to display his Nazi collection.
My mind just keeps going back to my relatives who fought WWII. Most of them fought in Europe, but a few fought in the Pacific. While most of them were grunts, at least one was an officer who was an aide to MacArthur (so he undoubtedly saw all kinds of shit), and one of them helped liberate a death camp. All of them brought home souvenirs from the war, but as far as I know, not one of them brought home Nazi shit. Sure, they brought home things like guns, but these were things like Mauser hunting rifles that they picked up cheap. One of them had a Luger that he got from a German soldier that might have had a swastika on it (I don't remember) but that wasn't why he got it. He got it because it was a high-quality gun and a collectible, as well as being considered "rare and exotic" in the US at the time.
Thomas claims income from a company that went under in 2006. https://www.washingtonpost.com/inve.../clarence-thomas-ginger-financial-disclosure/
Looks like it might be nothing. He was paid by “Ginger Ltd.” until it reorganized in 2006 into “Ginger LLC”, which he has not been claiming income from. So this could just be a matter of copying and pasting from one year to the next incorrectly.
Seems like a nothingburger coming off the grill at the wrong moment. But now it officially has to be confirmed as such.
Justice Clarence Thomas checked the box “none” for his wife’s income during a period when Ginni Thomas earned more than $686,000 from the Heritage Foundation. When called on the lie, he said it was “due to a misunderstanding of the filing instructions" https://twitter.com/fridaghitis/status/1648275575516143618
So he is either lying or he is a supreme court justice with a law degree who does not understand laws? It is not like they are able to remove the dishonest son of a bitch.
New Feinstein wrinkle. Democratic aide says the Judiciary Committee can’t issue a subpoena as part of a Clarence Thomas inquiry; that would require a majority on the panel and Democrats don’t have it without her. “So that option is out of the question.” https://twitter.com/sahilkapur/status/1648417549925662721
More on Thomas and the billionaire. https://www.levernews.com/thomas-helped-kill-eviction-ban-threatening-benefactors-business/ At this point, calling Thomas “dirty” is an insult to dirt.
Wood Jr: We can all see Clarence Thomas, but he belongs to billionaire Harlan Crow. And that's what an nft is. https://twitter.com/acyn/status/1652506986792079362?s=46&t=iYW3foyqIA6Tn8VWwn3nwQ
"Since the court refuses to bend, it is unwittingly abetting forces that would break it. The more the US Supreme Court resembles a theocratic body, the more it imperils itself."
SEN. WHITEHOUSE: “Only Supreme Court justices refuse to allow their conduct to be investigated or reviewed. My bill would fix that.” @SenWhitehouse came to the hearing on SCOTUS ethics with receipts. Their shadiness undermines our entire system. https://twitter.com/thetnholler/status/1653952744502317056?s=46&t=iYW3foyqIA6Tn8VWwn3nwQ
In 2002, a friend of Thomas’ from the RV community who owned a Florida pest control company, Earl Dixon, offered Thomas $5,000 to help defray the costs of Martin’s education. Thomas’ disclosure of that earlier gift, several experts said, could be viewed as evidence that the justice himself understood he was required to report tuition aid from friends.
This is a fun factoid. https://twitter.com/stuartpstevens/status/1654321117002371072 There have been 116 Justices of the Supreme Court. Only 5 have been confirmed by Senators not representing a majority of the voters. All 5 are on Court today.
This can't be true! This is why we have the second amendment. To prevent "the government" from overriding the will of the people!
Huh. Seems the IRS might have some questions about all of this. https://news.yahoo.com/harlan-crow-...069.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=fb&tsrc=fb
