That is just coded begging. It is a pretty weak excuse for outright asking for something. I could really use a vacation, all expense paid, but my simple SCOTUSD salary doesn't let me afford one every month. Life is so hard in my less than a million dollar home. I wish I could get a loan from someone so I could buy the mansion I really want. It is so hard to get around in the multiple loaded Mercedes I have, I wish I had a Bently. I have a hard time flying first class with all the luxuries every time I have to go somewhere, I wish I could ride on one of those private jets.

No bribery here, just someone looking out for poor old Clarence Thomas and the rest of SCOTUS so they do not have to live in regular old luxury. That isn't bribery at all.

Kick all of them motherfuckers out, make some rules for the money they can take, and find some fucking new ones.

For some reason he only does this for people very high up in the US federal government. That doesn't make it a bribe in any way. He is just looking out for those poor federal judges at the top of the food chain. They have a hard schedule having to work only a few days a year and then vacation the rest of the time while their staff handles everything. It is also very hard putting on a robe and sitting in those chairs listening to lawyers speak for a couple of hours a year.

I'd love a trip to Australia, along with a trip to Japan and the U.S. East Coast so I can play tourist in Washington and Gettysburg.

We investigate people in Congress and the Executive branch for taking bribes. About time SCOTUS gets their turn. And if they try to say it isn't constiutional then the very next time the Dems have the trifecta they should pack the court.

Clarence Thomas was in so much debt two decades ago that he tried to get Supreme Court justice salaries raised across the board. Within months, Republican billionaires began giving him extravagant gifts.

Thomas spoke at a conservative conference in January 2000, according to a new ProPublica report. In what we now know to be classic Thomas style, he did not report that trip on his financial disclosure forms.

On the way home, he sat next to Republican Representative Cliff Stearns. During the flight, Thomas complained bitterly that his salary—then $173,600—was insufficient. He even hinted that multiple justices could resign in the next year if they weren’t given a pay raise.

Thomas’s words sparked a rush of attempts on Capitol Hill to significantly raise the justices’ salaries or at least ensure their pay kept pace with inflation. Specifically, Republicans wanted to make sure that Thomas and his fellow staunch conservative Antonin Scalia did not leave the bench.

Thomas also petitioned then–Chief Justice William Rehnquist to lift a ban on justices giving paid speeches. Ultimately, the attempts to give justices more money all failed. But soon after, a group of Republican billionaire megadonors began lavishing Thomas and his family with a steady stream of gifts.
