Putting the "victimless" argument to rest.

    https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/a...opy-link&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=share

He has insisted that he didn’t commit any crime when he manipulated property valuations, because his lenders were repaid in full and didn’t object. But the statute under which James sued Trump doesn’t require any loss. Trump has complained that the law in question is “rarely used” and “VERY UNFAIR,” but lawyers familiar with the attorney general’s office said the law is actually deployed routinely, and has never suffered any constitutional challenge. In fact, Trump himself was successfully sued for the Trump University fraud under the same law.

Let's just say that one of Trump's erections (see what I did there?) goes up for auction and fetches a really appreciated price. I would suggest that would leave him in a position of being liability for capital gains on the federal, state and local level. If he actually gets billed for those gains and doesn't pay them...

According to Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, in order to have the cash necessary to pay the bond, he's going to have to make at least $1 billion from the sale of his properties because of things like capital gains taxes, state, federal, and local taxes. And there's going to be a whole lotta questions about who the buyer is.

I wonder...even if you think that Trump personally won't pay it back and will lose, maybe it is still a good investment. If you could depend on Trump and/or his connections (foreign or otherwise) to do business with you that they might not have otherwise, the $91.6 M could be more than made up. There's also the question of financial shenanigans through PACs, the RNC, fundraising grifts, access to the RNC donor list for your own scams, etc.

And if you are as rich as this guy is or have as much as Chubb does, you might be able to look the other way at a $91.6 million loss.

At this point I will admit that Trump is now more in the pocket of some corporate goons than Biden is. This guy and his Chubb corporation have a president in their pocket to do whatever they want, even appoint them into government positions.

That guy worries me. That guy is a controller. That guy is the one who will make Trump dance.

The Chubb Group used to be a PBS donor.
It logged in my memory, because every time the sponsors were listed, I went "huh, huh, huh, huh, huh!! Chubb!! Huh, huh, huh, huh!!".

When he loses and can't pay up, maybe they will accept a Trump building at the value he estimated for tax purposes and sell it for the value he used to guarantee loans...

So you are saying it might be a good thing that this guy just saved the orange mothman from having a lean put on his financial dumpster fire of business holdings?

Well, I was actually more going for Repugs who hate PBS and love Trump can go eat a doo-doo pot pie.
But come to think of it, the Kochs give to PBS too.
    Probably a taxes thing.

Here lies the problem with Trump, Alex Jones, and others like them. There is no actual consequence for their actions as far as I can see. OK, they have judgments against them. No one is coming to take their shit. No one is kicking them out of their resort living and then they have to find a place to stay with shit credit and no income.

There is money from heaven for these people, and even if they are "broke" someone lets them stay at their extravagant home and hands them a microphone. Maybe a few of the rich guys get burned but there is always another one to set these people up, and they know it.

There is no end to the sugar daddies on the right. The only place where these people would be somewhat silenced and face some actual consequences is prison. Since the justice department has different standards for rich white guys, there is no reason to shut up because no one will punish the rich white guys who hand out gifts to these criminals because that is the code for rich white dudes. Never let the legacy rich fall into the poorhouse.

senility might help trump. If he forgot who she was or what he was mad at her about, he might not defame her as much. My grandfather was so much better at family events and to hang out with when dementia took all of his memories of faux news and republican hate away. Biden might be really cool when he forgets he can sell us to the bankers so his kid can do more hookers and blow and take pictures of it which he will accidentally give to republican operatives posing as computer repair people.

New York. 2034. The judge enters. "We're here for the 185th case in Carroll vs Trump". Eight lawyers for Carroll enter, dressed in suits made of solid gold. Trump's attorney enters looking like Castaway Tom Hanks. The judge begins "let's get started". The foreman shouts "$80 billion". Judge sighs.

What is the 0-9 supposed to represent in this meme?

Trump's record in presidential elections is 1-1 (counting only the times when he was the nominee and ignoring any temperature taking he did prior to 2016).

His record on lawsuits challenging the election is like 0-60something. Like maybe he won some technical ones in there but it's not a good record.

His records in major civil suits is probably also pretty poor, depending on which you want to count and when. (lost two E. Jean Carroll suits, effectively lost the Trump University suit that he had to settle for $25 million, lost the fraud suit that he's appealing, He lost the defamation case over the Steele dossier.

His company lost a couple criminal cases against it, IIRC.

In short, what has he done that would be worth bragging about to the effect of his supposedly being undefeated?

It’s the Supreme Court ballot case, as in zero justices voted against him.

Can't say I read the opinions, but it isn't really something I'd break my arm patting myself on the back over if I were Trump or one of his fans. "Woo-hoo! All nine justices didn't want to deal with the ramifications of states potentially declaring candidates ineligible for office under the Constitution, meaning that Trump gets to be on the ballot and possibly be declared ineligible later!"

It is noteworthy that none of the justices even in the conservative majority were willing to decide the case on the grounds Trump's team argued: that Trump was not an "officer" of the United States or that Trump was not an insurrectionist.

Hopefully it will not come to it, but there is a potential constitutional crisis if Trump is elected and there is a Democratic Congressional majority in both houses (or enough defecting Republicans to make for a majority in both houses) where Congress passes legislation that declares Trump ineligible to serve under the 14th Amendment. Having just effectively established that Congress has the power to do so, it would be unseemly (but on brand) for SCOTUS to be like, "But not like that!!!"

Thanbk you to this guy for saying so, and prepare to be threatened and stalked. However, this will change absolutely nothing for Trump voters and the people who support him. Nor does it really change any of the people who are on the sighted side. We all know this, and please just give your testimony to the court and get his ass thrown in prison where it belongs if the dems will ever fucking do that.
