The media hasn't been on Trump's side ever since he waddled onto that gaudy-ass escalator in 2015. I mean, unless you mean Fox News and practically every talk radio outlet in the country. But they don't count.

Yeah. Back in the "old days" (don't ask me when the "old days" became the present cause I have no fucking idea) horses were bred for endurance and speed because they needed a long productive career to be money makers for their owners. 50 years ago when that freak of nature Secretariat did things never dreamed of on the track, the idea of syndicating horse's offspring was just becoming a thing. Instead of hoping for a long career with lots of win, everyone started concentrating on just raw speed. If a horse held together long enough to do well in the Triple Crown their breeding rights were far more valuable than any future winnings. The exception being horses that were gelded early on. The result is horses that are fast, but terribly fragile...to the point where so many thoroughbreds are breaking down that I won't watch the Triple Crown, let alone think about going to a local track. When I moved to Boise, there was a small track about a mile from where I live...I never went and it soon closed.
In a way, it's understandable what happened with Thoroughbreds, but it's a lot harder to figure what inbreeding the Trumps would produce. :brood:

And not once did they feel the need to storm the Capitol, nor do we have vast collections of communications from people directly connected to the POTUS saying, "This is what we're going to do to overturn the elections."

Which an individual has a right to do.
Stop what you're saying here, and think about it. Who would have rigged those elections in the past that the Democrats were complaining about?

Got news for you, Sparky, that happens every election. Conspiracies, Cover-Ups, and Crimes: Political Manipulation and Mind Control in America by Jonathan Vankin, documented that it had been happening since the 1980s, and even explains how and why it's done (as well as how it could be abused.
Despite the fact that not only do we have documented evidence from people on his payroll that they were unable to find anything proving the election was rigged, and that the people he appointed to things like the DOJ also said it was a fair election.

The hard drive of which has been in Rudy's possession for well-over a year now, and all we've gotten from it are dick picks and suspect emails. They've had ample time to release the "smocking guns" it's said to have contained but failed to do so. Almost like there's nothing else of value on there.

In court and as per the Electoral Count Act. Have you noticed how none of the objecting Republicans have been charged with anything? Or how none of the lawsuits are predicate acts in the conspiracy charges? No? Of course you didn’t, Mark Levine doesn’t want you to notice that.
But not only legal actions, and those are what he’s charged with.
Are you condemning Trump for declaring victory in 2016 before all the votes were counted? No? Then STFU. And if you say he didn’t then you’re a liar or an idiot.
When out of all arguments, Hunter Biden. Don’t you ever have anything correct and relevant to say?:dayton:

Time for another episode of "Are you really that stupid, or are you just blazingly dishonest?"

A small number of Democrats issued pro-forma challenges that were not backed by the majority of their own party and that were clearly intended to call attention to problems, rather than actually being an attempt to overturn the election.

In 2001, members of the Congressional Black Caucus objected to Florida's electoral votes to call attention to the disenfranchisement of Black voters in Florida. The objection immediately failed due to the lack of a concurring senator. Oh, and what did the losing candidate do? Was he whipping up furious protesters to storm the capitol? No, he was at the presiding officer's podium of the Senate, gaveling down the objection and certifying his own defeat.

Same basic story in 2005, when objections to Ohio's vote were defeated 1-74 in the Senate and 31-267 in the House.

Same basic story in 2017, when an objection was gaveled down by -- wait for it -- Joe Biden.

Putting aside the fact that the majority of House Republicans voted to overturn the election -- something Democrats have never done -- Trump isn't getting indicted because of what Josh Hawley or other dipshits did.

Calling up the secretary of state and begging him to "find" enough votes to put you over the top is not what I would call part of "every legal action." Nor is whipping up a mob to attack the capitol in a desperate attempt to stop your opponent's win from being certified. (Again, contrast Trump's behavior with Al Gore's.) Nor is having your goons make death threats against election officials and engage in ludicrous lies like claiming that one election worker passing a mint to another was evidence of fraud because the mint was really a USB drive.

Come on ... this is fucking kindergarten logic.

"If Janie told the teacher that Billy threw a block at her, then Billy is always justified in claiming that Janie threw a block at him!"

No, it depends on what actually happened.

And that's before we get into the difference between Janie saying "Miss Johnson, Billy threw a block at me" and Billy rallying some kind of kindergarten goon squad to storm Janie's house.

This may come as a great shock to you, but "the media" has no actual power to declare the winner of an election. Media outlets, working individually, may "call" an election when it's clear that there is next to zero statistical likelihood that the trailing candidate can make up their deficit, but this does not stop votes from being counted, nor does it automatically make the person for whom it was "called" the winner.

Media outlets did the exact same thing for Mitch McConnell's Senate re-election, and for ... well, almost every other race they reported on. Including a fuckton of Republican wins. Which I don't recall you saying anything about, which in turn suggests that in this case at least, you do understand what's going on; you're just deliberately playing obtuse because you're dishonest.

Yes, Trump would have won if only we'd been allowed to see Hunter's dong.

The difference is, the Dems stopped at "every legal action" and Trump didn't.

But you know that, you're just trolling and/or fucking stupid.

PS, the media outlet that "called the election for Biden, so it was rigged!!", if we're talking the Arizona call?

    FOX.

No other outlet called Arizona for another 3 hours.

I hope to God that you are better at your job than you are at history/common sense, or else everyone you've served should have died at food poisoning.

There were no meaningful challenges to such Democratic losses as Dukakis or Kerry, for example.

Once again: there is nothing inherently wrong with challenging elections as long as one does so LEGALLY. Raising questions about such things as voter suppression, gerrymandering, possible foreign interference etc. is fine. Claiming dead people voted or election machine switched votes, even if the person claiming it knows it didn't happen, is not illegal. It is scummy but not a crime.

What distinguishes what Trump and Co from those things is that they crossed the line into criminal conduct. They threatened officials with the possibility of jail time. They falsified documents. They tried to obstruct the peaceful transfer of power.

It should not surprise me that you are upset about the "jawboning" that Joe Rogan or whatever YouTube personality told you about with regard to Twitter, but concrete evidence where Donald Trump warns the Georgia secretary of state that he could face criminal charges doesn't seem to bother you one bit.

To take the two most recent Democratic presidential losers, Gore and Hilary, both basically could have stirred up a whole lot more shit after their losses, even if it was just bitching and moaning incessantly or sniping at Bush and Trump's every move in the way that Trump has as to Biden. (Yes, I'm sure that both have had some choice things to say about the people who beat them both publicly and privately, but nowhere near the level of Trump's flood of how he was the true winner, Biden did X, Y, Z wrong etc.)

Oh I know all that, but I'm trying to say is that he's not a theoretical fascist who's thought out all the philosophical implications of fascism and chosen it as a worldview - he just looked at how known fascists (and authoritarians generally) operate and said "yeah, that's cool, I want to do that"

NYT been sugar coating fascism since it was named, and trying to prove to the right that they weren't actually liberal (which nothing they can do would ever accomplish that because it's the narrative that matters to the reactionaries) on the regular.

And they aren't the only ones. Literally EVERY day WaPost or one of the old-line TV networks, or CNN, or The Atlantic drops SOMETHING that ACTUAL progressives recoil in horror from and spend all day tweeting "WTF y'all playin' at?" while at the same time getting no credit at all from the right except when they occasionally get cited in a court case because the fascists want to say "See? Even the liberal NYT agrees with us"

There hasn't been a "liberal media" since at least the days of Hurst.

AND there's multiple examples - besides Stone - of Trumpites planning to frame a loss as a win WAY before the 2020 election. In Guliani's sexual harassment case they woman suing him attests to Rudy speaking openly of it in !!!2019!!!

It's not like fascism is a complex philosophy, or that Hitler is a hard read.
His "deepest" thoughts sound like an angry goth kid blogging, and his speeches are dumber than that.
Put it this way; Storm was a more sophisticated fascist than Hitler.

Yes, but for Trump, the gaping maw of his psychological insecurity dominates over any ideological core. It's just that fascism contains things that appeal to his emotional needs, so he's latched onto it for dear life.

It's wild that Barton Gellman wrote this piece, which was published in September 2020, that had a bunch of Republicans saying they planned to do exactly what they ended up doing to try to overturn the results.
Many people at the time considered it fear-mongering.

Not just people like Stone and Guliani speaking among themselves - right out in the daylight.

Fani Willis' secret weapon in the Trump RICO charges:

Soon after her office opened up the investigation into potential illegal interference in the 2020 election in Georgia, Willis tapped John Floyd, who is viewed as one of the nation's leading authorities on RICO and literally wrote the book on Georgia's racketeering laws. Floyd was appointed as a special assistant district attorney to help with any racketeering cases her office would pursue.

"If I were charged with a RICO violation, the last person I'd want to see helping the prosecutor, maybe on the planet, is John Floyd," Eric Segall, the Kathy & Lawrence Ashe Professor of Law at Georgia State University, told Salon. Floyd, Segall continued, could be considered "kind of the Michael Jordan of RICO."

Throughout Floyd's legal career, he has specialized in pursuing public corruption and gang crime.
