He sees what everyone from Hitler to Kim did to be a "Glorious Leader" and it seems naturally attractive to him and he lacks a healthy mental/emotional state that would restrain him from aspiring to that position.

Those surrounding him, guiding his animal instincts, Miller, Fenton, Epstein, et al - THEY are knowing, intentional, committed fascists. The combination of his raw instinct and their knowledge and craven machinations - along with the reality that something between a quarter and a third of Americans WANT an authoritarian government (from their tribe) and that's where it gets ugly.

The third option of fleeing the country is maybe the smart play but he's not smart and he can't accept the perception of weakness that would come with that. He's gambling the judge doesn't have the resolve to lock him up pre-trial.

Trump took every legal action to challenge the election and had good reason to believe it was rigged, because Democrats have believed the election was rigged in the past. The media declared Biden the winner before all votes were counted. That should be enough to show that he truly believed the election was rigged. Never mind the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop.

He also stands accused of taking a number of illegal actions to challenge the election. You can bleat that this is a political witchhunt all you like, but when there's this much smoke you'll have to excuse those of us who think there's fire, too.
