Even if the allegations are true, it has nothing to do with the content he was putting out, YouTube’s selective censorship is the bigger problem.

In this particular case I would have to side against youtube. They react very poorly to controvercial things. I have not watched his shit recently so I don't know if his channel was not violating their rules and just not being reported or not. Youtube is quite shitty towards people who get reported a lot and you can really damage someone's revenue stream by weaponizing the report function. Why are they all of a sudden demonetizing him for something that just makes him unpopular with a group?

You wonder why people like Tim Pool continue to be on there when they are far more offensive than Brand is at the moment.

There needs to be a much better moderated youtube. I do not know if he went out and put some videos up that got him demonetized because they went against the rules, but with youtube I really question their cancelling his channel at this moment. I do not trust the youtube people to do the right thing. From what I see there isn't an actual bias, they are just spazmatic and awful.

Just because you subscribe to a channel on youtube doesn't mean much. That is why youtube judges you more popular based on notifications, likes, and whether you comment on videos. It is not worthless, but most people do not know who the fuck he is unless the pay attention to comedy or are CHUD atheists.

The key word there: subscribers. What matters are viewers. There's a big fuck difference, because in the podcasting community it's quite common for folks suggest that people subscribe to their YouTube channel, even if they listen to the podcast and all you get on the YouTube channel is album art with the audio. Why? Because that helps your YouTube numbers and means you've got a better chance at monetizing your channel. There are, no doubt, any number of people who've subscribed to his, or any other YouTuber out there, and have never watched a video that he's posted. Doesn't mean that they hate him, doesn't mean that they love him.

Okay, you want to talk viewership numbers? How do we determine that? Before you say, "We'll go with YouTube numbers!" I want to point out that there's very good reasons not to trust them. Just like FB, YT has been caught gaming the numbers. Sometimes it's not counting viewership numbers when a person watches a YT video embedded on a site like this (that enables them to shaft the creators), other times it's counting people watching less than a couple of seconds of a video as "viewers" (thus enabling them to charge advertisers a higher rate). So, a channel could have six million subscribers, but the only person who watches it is the host Or a channel could have six million subscribers, yet 12+ million people watch an episode on average, and YT says that less than six million watch it, because most of them view it on sites other than YT, even though the video is being pulled from YT's site.

When was the last time anyone here mentioned that asshole? I can't remember, can you? Given all the petty bullshit we talk about here, you'd think that if he was somebody who could have much of an impact, his name would have come up a bunch. You know, I wonder whose name does come up more often here than Brand's? I can't remember the last time somebody mentioned Bill O'Reilly's name, can you? Glenn Beck? Ralph Nader? How about Al Gore?
