Caman, you know omnibus bills and adding to the national debt are in this guy's future if given the chance, he's just lip servicing like a MF
So the other day when I said god forbid we should have regular order and you thought that was funny, you no longer find that funny? Did you not understand what I meant by regular order? Can I also assume that now you are concerned about the debt?
So close… Until the office of Speaker is filled, Senator Murray is second in line of succession for the presidency. A great day for Washington, and therefore, the world. https://bsky.app/profile/derekmyoung.bsky.social/post/3kaut2u7i572k
Patrick McHenry is temporary speaker. https://www.businessinsider.com/who-leads-the-house-mccarthy-ousted-speaker-pro-tempore-2023-10
McCarthy is saying that he wouldn't consider a power sharing agreement with the Dems. 'That doesn't work. We are in the majority. You don't surrender.' So naturally his own party gutted him.
Matt’s also looking at running for governor of Florida when DeSantis is term limited out, according to rumors.
In case you were wondering if the new guy was a piece of shit or not his first move was to kick Nancy Pelosi out of her office while she is out of town at Feinstein’s funeral. https://www.politico.com/live-updat...-pelosi-hideaway-office-house-remove-00119803
McCarthy won't run again for Speaker. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/kevin-mccarthy-says-wont-run-house-speaker-rcna118611
For those wondering why we have a new Speaker no one has ever heard of it is yet another gift of 9/11. Constitutionally the Speaker of the House is second in line of succession for the presidency. Post 9/11 it was decided that there should never NOT be a Speaker so through whatever means there comes a situation where we don’t have an elected Speaker there is a list of ‘Survivors’ who will become interim Speakers, which is written out by the elected Speaker. Unfortunately not all 9/11 legislation was the most thought out or legally sound. Supposedly the first and only thing an Interim Speaker (again something created post 9/11 and this is the first time we’ve ever had one) does is to preside over the election of an actual Speaker. However it looks like maybe he can delay that and we’re stuck with him for the time being.
Hey, age of consent, public decency, and anti-treason laws are all forms of tyranny, and members of the Freedom Caucus is out there fighting the good fight against all of them day and night!
From those wags over at the BBC. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy... 9 months in 90 seconds The look on his face in the video still is worth clicking through to see.
I really hesitate to use adjectives like "stupid", "idiotic" and "naive", but there really isn't any other way to McCarthy's actions (and his own intellectual capacity) after this fiasco. It didn't take any great insight to see what was going to happen after McCarthy mortgaged his political future for the Speakership. Benjamin Franklin used to tell the story of a boy who wanted a whistle so badly that he spent all of his money on it and immediately suffered the consequences of paying too much for his whistle. McCarthy paid too much for his whistle. Corruption on the scale of Menendez or Richard Kelly (look him up) is pretty damn stupid, but I think we all can see that greed can turn any of us into drooling idiots. Lindsay Graham's servile bootlicking of Trump is disgusting, but it's understandable that political ambition can override a sense of shame. Trying to understand how McCarthy could delude himself into thinking he could survive after giving away so much to batshit faction of the Republicans is just... I don't get it...
