Well Gul could ask Missmanners to compare IP's and report it.

We could always do it from the safety of another board. :bergman:

I can't imagine how you people can keep up with drama that spans so many boards.

I can't even keep up with this one.

Later tonight, I shall detail how the mole hunt was conducted.

    Til then -- stay tuned.

If he would agree to it, I see no reason why it shouldn't be permitted.

I think this is total BS. Unless there are profound, valid comparisons between Guldulac and DW, there is no reason to accuse him of going out of his way to subvert the privacy of the staff lounge or inner circle or what have you. For all you know, DW is missmanners stirring the pot. Issues like that should be discussed among concerned parties. Talking about it in the Help Desk is practically condoning it.

    The Mole Hunt

Very simple. Last night gul became the unintended recipient of the following PM, purportedly -- but not really -- addressed to evenflow. :?:

Note very carefully that no one is named. Simply, the subject line "treason." :ramen:

Then in the Help Desk, in this very thread, gul this morning announced he had received a threatening PM. Voila.

But wait. How could this be? The only person who could take this PM he'd apparently received by mistake as a threat was whomever was posting as "Disgruntled Wordforger" -- the low-down coward who didn't have the balls to post his own words under his regular screen name.

Surely, if gul were not Disgruntled Wordforger -- and surely he would deny it, for gul is an honorable man :soholy: -- he could not be referring to the PM he inadvertently received from me. It must, then, be someone else threatening him.

So, concerned citizen that I am :soholy: , I asked about it. Voila.

The silence throughout the day was telling. In fact, his posting here and elsewhere was far below his "average 16 posts a day." Seems like someone with something on his mind.

In the meantime, I wondered idly about various bad things that could happen, and why messing around with real life info is such a horrible thing. Really, the usual extemporaneous hypotheticals. :soholy:

It wasn't until a couple of pages later when at last gul announced "J'Accuse!" And at me no less. :soma: Voila.

But I keep coming back to the inescapable fact -- the only person who could have been threatened by my PM was "Disgruntled Wordforger." :spanishinquisition:

And thus my aim was, of course, impeccable. :bergman: The low-down rat who stabbed a friend -- two really -- in the back and who wasn't man enough to do it under his own name was, in fact, gul.

It matters little that I don't even know his name, nor do I give a shit how he wastes his employer's time, nor that I never threatened gul in the first place. All I cared was to expose his hypocrisy, his cowardice and his untrustworthiness.

It was a simple operation -- the removal of the vertebrate facade to reveal a spineless worm.

    Okay...all this bullshit is enough.

I get out for a glorious day out and I return to this bullshit? I don't know exactly what is going on here, but intend to find out about it.

There will be no more personal threats about anyone's real life veiled or otherwise in the Help Desk. None.

This is going to be sorted. Storm and Bear have given permission for us to access their PMs for the purpose of investigation into this matter. Gul, I need your permission as well so we can personally see any evidence you have recieved...as per the Ted/Jenna investigation.

As soon as we get a yes from you, this will be thoroughly looked into and if there are threats going on it will not go well for the threateners. :garamet:

That by itself isn't exactly conclusive evidence given that the "oh, whoops I accidentally sent the message to the wrong person" trick is centuries old. Given that Guls name isn't next to Evenflows either it's not even a convincing mistake.

If I received a message like that from you I would be more inclined to believe that if it was an accident, it was because you had the name on your mind when you sent it, implying that was the target of the threat.

So either it was a shit attempt at catching someone out, or it was a threat directed at Gul.

I haven't seen a single concrete piece of evidence which says gul is threatening the secrecy of the staff's doings. I think some people are letting their hopes (and emotions) get the best of them. It's good drama and all, but it's pretty silly if you think about it.

Pardon, consider this my last post on the matter. Continue the witchhunt?

And we don't even know if Gul ever received it or if he's just making it up.

Even if he did send it to Gul it still doesn't prove that Gul is Disgruntled Wordforger.

    Indeed.

Storm really needs to be permabanned for this. He's gone so far beyond the bounds that no decent person, friend of his or not, can defend him. Fucker's gotta be taken out.

Anyone who defends him deserves no one's respect.

RJHJ disagrees: Come on you know he meant Bear who is on staff as ChatOps.

I don't really agree that Bear is still "on staff". He's not a mod, and he has no power on this board.

He has Chat and Area 51 access. That's more then enough to be "staff."

Given that it's been established a few times that the chat room is an extension of the board I would say that it counts. I know I still consider Bear to be on staff.
