really now? You are 100 certain that Trump is "that sort of guy?" You did say he is "absolutely" that sort of guy. I can't wait to hear that rock-solid proof you are certain to provide. This should be enlightening!
Here’s where the “bragging” excuse falls apart too. Even if he didn’t do any of things he described on the tape (and there’s no reason to think he didn’t), just the choice of what he though worthy of bragging about is revealing of his character. He didn’t brag about women who were attracted to him and wanted to have sex with him. He bragged about forcing himself on a married woman who was not receptive to his advances. He bragged about his star power letting him get away with doing anything he wanted to women. That’s what kind of person he is.
I think that there are many people, men and women alike, who think that Trump is acting how a man should act. In their heads, this is how "real" men used to act but can't anymore lest the PC police come calling.
and never did it occur to you that perhaps Trump brags about a veritable cornucopia of things? Unless somebody tapes him bragging for an extended period of time how would we really know? One snippet of conversation doesn't give you much data in the overall picture. Can I record 1 percent of your bragging then judge your character? WTF man.
Not acknowledging that Trump is a shit pile of a human being is the epitome of sticking your head in the sand. Where's the evidence? I don't know, his entire fucking life?
You must have missed his 1997 interview on Stern. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...iving-princess-di-an-hiv-test/?sw_bypass=true
Ok man. I’m not a star, so I can’t get away with kissing and groping women I’ve just met. Hope my constant bragging didn’t mislead you.
and wordforge is the only place you brag? I'm not with you 24/7 - you might hang out at the bar telling "no shit there I was" stories, who knows? Some people love to brag/hear themselves talk and no doubt about it Trump has that type of personality. I avoid those type of people, but generally tune them out and don't take them seriously because many with that type of mindset are delusional.
So the president is a delusional braggart, but since only a few of his recorded boasts involve mistreating women we should cut him a break and assume he isn’t really like that.
Were you at all concerned about the implication of, say, serial predator suck-my-dick-honey Bill in the white house twenty-five years ago (that involved actual actions, not boasts)?
In all honesty, the delusional factor is quite a bit more concerning than the predation. It is of course true that Trump and Clinton, along with many of their predecessors, share those proclivities. They used to be golfing buddies, after all.
I think we've come a long way since then. The "consenting adults" argument won't fly as well anymore, with the power differential of a president-intern relationship.
That doesn't help him. He still thinks this is something to brag about rather than to be ashamed of. That absolutely makes him that kind of guy -- if he is lying, then that also makes him a liar (which we know) and a coward (which we suspect), but it doesn't make him a person with values.
Agreed we've arrived at a different place than 25 years ago - in fact it seems we've come all the way to a Hillary-isn't-candidate-any-more destination. Alternate scenario: Hillary didn't blow the election and is POTUS, which would be far less entertainment and amusement in hypocrisy since groping-for-power-and influence couldn't have been repudiated. (hypocrisy inherent in both sides, obviously).
I'm confused and sleepy right now, but I wonder how much of Trump being elected was an unmentioned catalyst for the Weinstein allegations and #metoo.
https://www.buzzfeed.com/jimdalrymp...cci-has-been?utm_term=.cd02n35M7N#.tbykb4Po5g They are eating their own now. This guy dated a coworker for a year, it was a mutual relationship, but now that they have broken up he is getting dired for violating company policy. No word on her getting fired.
If the best argument you can muster is "Well what about....." then you haven't got an argument at all. If an action is wrong, it's wrong regardless of whether or not someone got away with it previously.
It's a tough situation for him. He can set a great example by resigning. Given the multiple stories coming from during his campaign as well as the USO tour, it's hard to justify staying on based on the idea that these things all happened before he was a senator.
Agree. I’m curious why you made this distinction though. Would your argument change if all the allegations had occurred before (or after) after his election?
It might have been better for him to wait for the Ethics Committee, but if he's resigning by his own choice outside the party's, er, recommendation to do so, that's not a course of action I can fault.
It was never an argument, it's 'hypocrisy watch.' Liberals are the kings of hypocrisy, lies and/or double standards. Republicans are barely dukes.
