TNZ Isn't Really Fun Anymore

Back in the day? Absolutely. You had an influx of people who were completely new to the internet, with a number of depraved assholes who made trolling into an art form. That said, once we left the quality dropped down.

I miss some of those old assholes. I just checked, Jeriko hasn't been around in over twelve years; Rucker in almost five. Hell, I'm sparse too, though I wasn't shit before we left Big Blue (and frankly I ain't now either).

Well I am SO SORRY. My opinion is so highly valued on other subjects, so I thought everyone would want to hear my latest hot take. Here, I'll give myself this:

Back in those days I had left Usenet and the empire of meow for the anime message boards and some fun on customerssuck.com. sounds like tnz was fun on a bun. I am not sure i could have fit it in though. What you see now is toned down from the day. But I used to have tons of downtime on eq, and time at work for cruising the boards. If you did your job in tech support fast and quick you could easily find a place to chill waiting for a call to come in. Not to mention when you ended up meddling for a fight in MMO land for fifteen to thirty minutes you had time to do other things. It is just my fandom had gone to anime over sci fi after the late nineties so my history was with the weeboo tribes of the internet captain waifu might know about.

Gaia online, the eq message boards, anime nation message boards, and customers suck to blow off steam. There was a ton of easy butt hurt to play with and some weak moderation. Anime nation actually dropped their extended discussion boards and booted out serious political and life discussion because they just simply did not want to be bothered with it. The assholes over at customers suck decided I was too annoying on political topics and permabanned me . Then some troll groups got wind of who they were and how easily butt hurt and reactionary the mods were and that started the board hacks and crashes. Some little birds most have told them. Gaia was fun for years though. They did not like me showing up at their anime con panels and asking them why they allowed pedophile conversed on a board with little kids on it. So started the tererun and octane wars. Oh, past history. You guys would have had a blast, as I seem to have missed you party.

Oh well the future is long and as I am learning new glory days are ahead of you as long as you don't bury yourself in the sand. This board isn't dead. I doubt tnz is either, though I cannot truly speak on it. The new people who are there are making their stories and times. Sometimes in order to be a part of the new show you have to stop being an oldbie and be a newbie again.

I expect this place to be insular because everyone has been here for years. You'd think TNZ would be more open. But then again, who the hell goes on message boards anymore?

Most of the people here at Wordforge are terrific*. Some are more open minded than others, but that’s just people being people. I’ve been a member here for 13 years, and it’s more open minded here now than it ever was before.

TNZ has become super liberal. That’s fine, to each their own, but it also becomes more of an echo chamber the longer it stays that way. The problem is that there have been so many trolls pretending to play the part of ultra-conservative asshole, that folks there have become too cynical to see genuine conservatives as something other than trolls in disguise, which means closed minds all around.

Another problem is that if you color too far outside the accepted boundaries, you’re not taken seriously, either. There’s a sweet spot, and if you step outside of it, your experience will be less pleasant.

TNZ was never that great and hasn’t changed. You just get bored with it eventually or get banned if you have too low of an IQ to skirt the rules.

TNZ was my introduction to the vile nastiness of those who claimed to be liberal/progressives.

I didn't post there until you folks wouldn't shut up about the place so I went to take a look, found it kind of sucked, and haven't really been back. Back in the early 00's I was more interested in Civilization along with forums like Apolyton and CivFanatics.

It was TNZ, then it got split up in 2: TNZ and TBP...
This was when Enterpriser was a mod...
The split was one of, if not the main, reason a bunch of "conservatives" aka trolls left and came here...
I registered here at the same time because i actually liked most of them/you, but then after Obama got elected a lot of those people(mostly the more trollish ones) became worse with racist and misogynist posts etc...
It's funny seeing those same people who cheered for Trump realizing they made a mistake...
