Yes, in the course of conversation, sometimes people who shared an experience in the past chat about the things they remember. It's a pretty standard human social thing.

I remember Ryan being a nasty piece of shit with some of the most vile opinions I ever heard. I don’t think he even got banned, he left because no one was willing to humor him anymore. IIRC he was more hardcore about insane Christian conspiracy stuff than Jack Chick, the guy who made those little comics about how DnD is made by Satan.

I even think he posted some lame documentary he made about how Freemasons were devil worshippers or some such shit. It wasn’t even entertaining, it was just two boring guys talking in a poorly framed static shot.

First off Ryan had (and I'm sure still does have) serious health issues. It's good that he made it this far. What got me was his absolute refusal to acknowledge that even though he had to rely on charity for the majority of his care, that a lot of people can't afford medical care. It was self-centeredness bordering on solipsism. I never figured out how a self-styled Christian could be so callous about anyone else's hardships.

I hate that TNZ has this perception of being anti-liberal. There are way more liberals, but even the general philosophy of Trek it’s to be expected that enough people who like it would be liberal. TNG is a hippie utopia. But there are enough conservative fans to engage with in debates. Honestly I don’t care what you believe, just that actually argue it. Insults are fine and I do that myself because I’m bound by the same rules as anyone else, which upsets newbies for some reason. But I’m fairly relaxed when it actually comes to modding. Generally if you actually contribute I don’t care what you believe or post. Just don’t use slurs and even then I try to be aware of the context. If you use it as an example of a slur or it’s relevant to the topic I edit it and tell you to not do it anymore. But if you use a slur as a slur you get a vacation. Sometimes we forget to let you back in because you never asked to be let back in. Unless you were a complete douchebag we’d probably let you back in no matter what happened.

Other than that some posters just get weird hairs up their ass and decide to make it personal. Insult their beliefs and everything they do and say, but not whatever situation they’re living in. Even then we ask you to stop, if you keep it up your gone. I know some like to claim that’s just politics or your beliefs, when it’s actually affecting some else’s life you can’t do that. It doesn’t bring anything to a debate it just makes all of it about you. I don’t get what makes you think it’s okay, but if you can’t knock it off when we ask you have no business there. It seems to affect conservatives more likely because of social issues regarding identity and race that conservatives have politicized. But that’s not the place for that. I don’t like banning conservatives despite popular opinion, I honestly enjoy debating with them and prefer someone smart enough to be a challenge. But some of you just want to be dicks and not even funny dicks. So if you got banned you deserved it and we gave you enough rope to hang yourself every single time.

When it comes to Enterpriser, I think that was the personna of one seriously disturbed individual. He's the one person I've come across that I believe is dangerous. He certainly terrorized at least one female poster he cyber stalked and pissed off a lot of others. Amaris and I had to deal with him when we were trying to create our own BBS and he was the kind of whiny self-victimizer who I think could justify damn near anything because the world was picking on him. A singularly nasty piece of work. Oddly, he wasn't a bad moderator during a brief stint at TrekBBS. He was engaged, on top of things and pretty even handed in trying to keep things from spinning out of control. It didn't last, though...
