That’s actually not circular logic at all. It’s factually wrong and self-serving, but it is logically valid. You’d need “Trump isn’t a fascist.” as the first premise to make it circular logic.

I don't know if Trump meets the definition of a typical fascist. He doesn't give a damn about the 'State.' IMO he's a narcissistic authoritarian who only cares about himself and his power over others. He didn't run for president because he wanted to change the country. He ran because it's the shiniest bauble in the world. He's like a douchier Scrooge McDuck.

Trump has demonstrated his love for authoritarianism so many times that no one need even bother questioning it. As for Ultra-nationalism, I don't know if he really believes it or not, but he puts on a good show for his base. His base certainly believes it. Trump himself may not be a fascist--I don't think he has the sophistication to choose a political philosophy--but you're right. He certainly isn't opposed to fascism if it nets him him what he wants.
