Mitchell OUGHT to be on the bridge as navigator or helmsman. He was Kirk's best friend after all, and Kirk asked Mitchell to follow him to the Enterprise. Shame on Abrams for missing that.
Keyword being follow. The novels give an out. Mitchell didn't follow Kirk to the Enterprise immediately and missed their first mission.
I miss Gary but I won't worry about it in this movie because it doesn't satart out being Kirk's ship....in the second movie I would hope someone points out he needs to be added. You can shift Checkov off to a weapons/security console or some such.
They certainly COULD....but one of the things that the next movie will need is new faces, it will be a good sop to the fans, then can maybe cast some high profile hot face in the role, and you get that whole wise-ass angle for snappy dialogue.
Ehhh.....nah. My guess is the trilogy will go first mission, a bit after WNMHGB, and the final mission just before TMP. Then, if they wanna go further than that, tap into the second 5 year mission. Course, it really gets tricky if the new cast wants to hang around as long as the original bunch.
They did. It was called Nemesis. Remember, it was written by a fan for fans. It bombed. Change it all, sez I!
I was talking to a friend about this and I guarantee you that's at the VERY end. Something akin to, "We just got our first orders. Buckle up!" and he moves to the center seat.
I thought those guys admitted not having watched much of Trek. It certainly showed from the final product.
Kirk probably wasn't in command too long before WNMHGB. Besides, I think Denher said Kirk asked Mitchell to join his command, That makes me think Mitchell probably came with Kirk.
http://www.trektoday.com/news/191108_03.shtml Further comments for Abrams. As I thought, people are making too many assumptions based on the trailer. Seems like the Enterprise is being built in San Francisco after all.
Does everyone who likes it HAVE to personally insult everyone who doesn't? this is going on on every bboard I visit, even the hobby boards. People who don't like what they've seen criticize what they've seen. People who do like what they've seen insult the people who don't, insult the original show, and tell them to get over it.
I repeat yet AGAIN... BUCKLE UP TO WHAT ?!?! THE CHAIRS AREN'T BOLTED TO THE FLOOR! AND THERE ARE NO SEATBELTS! They're just normal everyday chairs. Big Pic I think Kirk is still pissed at Spock for trying to chock him to death. So he's telling the rest of the bridge crew "ha ha, my chair is the only chair connected to the floor. The rest of you can go fuck yourselves. Warp Speed!"
Apparently, JJ's heard the complaints and has recut the trailer to better reflect the theme of the film. [YT="New Trek Trailer"]UAjmbASkkLY[/YT]
