I think we are talking about several different topics here, and it makes the thread confusing to follow.

Regarding the "trolling" issue, just because you feel trolled, it doesn't mean jack shit. If someone "felt" trolled whenever a member had a George Bush picture in their avatar, or a picture of a greenpeace ship sinking, or a gun, there would be no end to the amount of butthurt members spamming up the Shelter with what they perceived to be the slightest trolls. So anyone ever would have to do would be to feign offense at it to get said avatar removed. (And then subsequently laugh at them in the Red Room about what a tough internet warrior they are - a tactic we are all too familiar with at this point.)

Just because a picture of you is being used as an avatar, it does not mean it is trolling, even though the person in question feels they are being trolled by it.

If the picture said "This man is an alcoholic" or "this man molests children", then we might have something to go on, but even then, it would have to be proven whether this was actually the person in question. Someone could, theoretically claim to be Obama, and claim they were being trolled whenever a picture of Barack showed up outside the Red Room. Who to believe? Unless Wordforge gets a cease and desist order from a real live person in the real live world, any claim on the internet is really dubious at best. This, I believe, is the way claims work. A letter from a lawyer, stating that their client named ______ claims ownership of said work and to not use it. Then we get into all sorts of issues regarding ownership of copyright.

There are exceptions to this also, namely for parody and satire. George Lucas does not give permission for others to make fun of Star Wars, Star Wars is not "public domain" by any stretch of the imagination, yet there are thousands of parodies that he is powerless to stop.

In short, don't post pictures here you might not want used against you in an unflattering way. And that goes for pictures of your face, pictures of your artwork, pictures of your dog or cat, pictures of your model spaceships, etc. etc. etc. And if you actually want to claim official ownership to any of these, then you need to lawyer up and follow the proper steps so we know you aren't actually bullshitting the forum.

If you are using a person's name, initials, pictures, whatever to get a negative response or to ridicule that person, that is trolling.

Period.

And, Lanz said next time that person would get a warning or vacation. don't remember the exact words.

Don't act like you haven't engaged in the same behavior in the last 12 months. I don't know exactly when Lanz made the decision, but you were here and were fully aware.

I've never trolled anyone with personal information during that time. I might have called 14thDoctor "pedoray" a time or two, but there are very few here who haven't. Definitely never trolled anyone with their own images at any time. Have I trolled on Wordforge. Of course. In the Red Room, and never with the tactics you described there.

Calling 14th doctor pedoray is exactly the same thing. in or out of the red room.

Yep. 1) Vizionrazer has acted like an ass and clearly attempts to troll others on numerous occasions. 2) #1 has nothing to do with whether he gets the same protections as everyone else.

What's more, the people are certainly not thinking this behavior through. The precedent here is appalling.

If that's actually his name, and I have no idea where it's from and no one has spoken up to tell me, then I won't call him that. There. Simple.

Here's an idea, if you don't know why someone is trolling someone else with a particular name, don't use it.

You have no reason to believe me. I guess I'll give you a reason. Or you could refer to the fact that I -- like most of us -- know garamet's real name, have been consistently trolling the hell out of her... but only in the Red Room, and never with her real name. If that isn't at least a good indication that I'm serious, I guess it'll just take longer for you to believe me.

I know where the 'pedo' part comes from. I assume it's a fabrication. No idea whether 'Ray' is actually his name or not, but if it is, and if it bothers him to be called that, I won't call him that. Same with anyone else who's actually upset at being trolled. If I'm asked not to do it, I'm not going to do it.
