The whiter minorities married into Anglican families or in the case of many Germans post WWI, changed their names upon arrival. I'm sure that was the reason that lot wasn't put into internment camps during WWII.

The main reason being something like 50% of the US population was at least partially German. It would not be practical to lock up half the population.

 

My point exactly. Germans could easily pass for Anglican because of their white skin. Japanese, Mexicans, Chinese and all the other minorities, not so much.

 

The latter half of that describes why Germans had a better time, rather than showing they had a hard time, and WW1 wasn't about arriving in the US. But I would like to know more about the organised anti-German efforts; I hadn't heard of those.

 

We started calling frankfurters, weiners, and dachshund sandwiches "hot dogs" and later King George renamed his family "Windsor" instead of "Saxe-Coburg and Gotha."

 

There were a number of nativist movements in the 19th century. The Know Nothings, The American Party, The Immigration Restriction League, etc...

All of them basically targeted everyone who was not a British Protestant including other northern European Protestants and they absolutely hated Catholics of any stripe.

You will notice the two main groups the Know Nothings targeted were Germans and Irish. Forget southern Europeans or nonwhites because at that time it was not legal for them to immigrate here.

If they break the law then of course you try them. The most import than is to stop making the problem worse and that means reforming immigration laws.

Why don't you religiously profile them? You said they're dirty animals. Why religiously and ethnically profile people at the border if you're not going to bother with the two million inside the country?

You're saying you want a preventative measure for one group but for the other you'll wait until there's a crime before doing anything. An inconsistent approach wouldn't you say? Surely registering them and maybe having them report once a week might be a good idea? That might prevent more attacks, no?

 

A good profile includes as many data points as possible and does not rely just one one data point. Also, yes, your average muslim does indeed believe some pretty fucked up shit which should offend any liberal person.

Almost no community support among Muslims for the anti-radicalization intervention plans by the UK government. The idea was to identify people at risk for radicalization and to do an intervention. The problem is the Muslim community does not want any intervention by authorities against radicals.

 

I think the FBI found much the same in this country. The imams want to handle it internally. Some of that might be an extension of how Muslims will punish sons and daughters for bringing shame to the family. Do not air dirty laundry in public. If something does get out they family often publicly disowns the one accused of offenses against Islam, such as the first female fighter pilot from the UAE whose family disowned her for leading strike missions against ISIS.

They vastly outnumber those trying to enter the US with a view to settlement. What's your preventative plan for them? On a different note the Obama administration seems to have cut its deportation efforts during 2015 in the run up to the 2016 election. I wish law enforcement wasn't subject to the whims of politicians.
