Um, the Empire has always been filled with white humans. Now, in the early films, most of the rebels were white humans as well, but there were some people of color and aliens (how many in Star Wars or Empire though?).

In the Extended Universe this was played up more.

Yeah, I remember this kind of shit being claimed for TFA and Mad Max and a few other movies, and in those cases it was a small group of idiots that were essentially turned into the boogeyman and used in an attempt to beat people about the shoulders with. Or then there's the Ghostbusters shit which was nothing more than an attempt to market the movie on controversy in a way that only third-wave feminists can - by claiming any criticism of the movie is sexist.
