Actually, I have it on good authority that nobody ever complains about Clyde. So if you see an incident where someone complains about him, it's clearly a figment of your imagination. Obviously you're experiencing one of those now, and I suggest that the only proper solution is for you to accept this fact and just enjoy the hallucination if you can.

I'm inclined to agree with the complainants in this case. The first post may be baiting Dayton and Captain X into responding, but I don't see how it can be construed as trolling. I think most people can see what El Chup was trying to do, or at least reasonably guess what he was trying to do. No warning was deserved in this case, and if no warning was deserved, then no thread closure was either.

This forum shouldn't be run like Minority Report, where mods close threads because they THINK it might devolve into Red Room style discussion. They shouldn't close threads they are QUITE CERTAIN will devolve into shitfests. They should be warning posters who step out of line once they *have* stepped out of line.

I agree the action probably shouldn't have happened, but there was already a new thread started in the Red Room so there is little to be done about it at this point, really.

Hardly the point. It shpuld not have happended in teh first place as it was not a troll. It is a pathetic testament to what WF has become that every fucking thing is seen as an attempt to cause drama.

I was kicked off the "staff" for merging a few Dayton Star Trek threads and calling Mewa a cunt. In contrast, continued fuck ups like this, Paladin's recent foul ups and your own messes go ignored by an uninterested owner again and again and again. This place is a shadow of it's former self, where people are treated like second class citizens based on their popularity vote or whether or not they are bust buds with the Legion of Incompetents.

Closing the thread was a judgment call I made mostly because it was an obvious continuation of a recently closed thread involving the same subject matter, same members, coupled with a thread title that called out the same members by name. One of which did indeed complain.

That said. There is no justification for the obvious flaming going on in this thread. Our behavior defines Wordforge, this forum is a place to ask for help, and to that end it is supposed to be flame/troll free.

It looks like you were trying to bait one or both of those two into flaming you. I can't really judge your motives as it also might be you wanted to get their opinions of the Youtube video's critiques. Hence, why I would not have closed that thread.

I remember when the Enterprise forum mods did this to the point that mentioning pairings at all outside of shipper threads was for all practical purposes banned--which made discussing most of season four off-topic by extension. The trouble was being caused by maybe five people tops, but no we can't just BAN them! Suffice it to say that in large part is why I ended up at WF--to avoid this exact kind of stupidity that is now going on in MC.

They were doing the same thing at TNZ a couple of years earlier. It's the reason this board is what it is, rather than a writer's forum owned by Aurora's "brother."

I don't get this as Chup being antagonistic towards either Dayton or CX. if anything, he's been in agreement with them over the quality of JJTrek, so the entire premise is flawed.

Basically this is a fucking joke. The thread gets closed for a "personal attack". Clyde, being up his own backside as usual, cannot point out what the personal attack is. He claims he made a judgment call, but it was the wrong one and it was based on presumption instead of fact. What's more, the board owner doesn't care a shit about his members to the point that he treats them like scum and can't be bothered to offer comment. Then there are the everlasting gobstoppers like yourself and Tamar who are so far up the arses of the owner and each other that you offer weak agreement without, again, establishing the personal attacks or evidence of trolling.

This place has become EXACTLY what TNZ was. Never changing, untouchable mods who do what they fucking like and a board owner more interested in his own sense of superiority than an effective and functioning forum. I may not have agreed with Anc previously, but dammit if I'm not now beginning to agree that the leadership of this place is not fit for purpose.

When it comes to Media Central at least, it seems to me that the threads could use a little fire and intensity as long as things don't devolve into flamefests.

By the time I saw the situation, the thread was closed and there was a Red Room version already going. Didn't seem to be much point in reopening the Media Central one by then.

What I would like to say and suggest is if there is no reason to NOT reopen threads, it should be done. None of this "saving face" between moderators and admins, which I believe is bullshit. If a mod made a mistake, then please fix the mistake. People don't like to have their threads closed for no apparent reason. If the apparent reason turns out to be no reason at all, then the thread should be reopened.
