I'd agree with you, but the new girl has made comments lately that hinted disapproval at some people's sense of humor. I had watched that progressive humor panel thing unfold on twitter the other day and thought what better way to let her explain to us What was bothering her.

Not that it will or should change anything, her offense is her cross to bear, not ours.

If she's real I'd love for hear to stick around, but she ought to know how much water her clucking disapproval carries.

I'll assume the rest was also pleasant and lovely.

You could have just led with "liberals are the real racists" if that was going to be your thesis all along, and saved me the trouble of replying.

If I've taken anything away from reading this discussion, it's that we need to fight the marginalization of, and bigotry against, minorities and women through marginalizing and being bigoted against white men.

You will find that more than a few around here cannot understand that context matters. Not just with comedy, but with everything. To a guy like John Castle, for example, everything happens only within the confines of the space time location where it is observed.

No one likes -- and, consequently, no one is going to accept -- that they are no more "enlightened", "advanced" or "special" than those they have made it a hobby or, in some cases, a dearly belov'd passion, to look down their noses at. Negative Ghostrider, unless you are a "historically oppressed" minority - not that there's anything wrong with that. For example let's say you are black and live in a city (like Augusta) that is majority black, say 52 percent black. You are still considered a "minority" for government/demographic purposes.
Now let's say you are white, and all the black people move to my county. You are one of a dozen whites. The town is 99.9 percent black. You are not a "minority".
It has nothing to do with actual numbers, it's about historical context. That's just the way it is - look it up, it's science!

 

You see? You assume that he endured those things at the hands of the mythical "white oppressor." Racist assumptions are symptomatic of racism.

A liberal who has dedicated himself or herself to hating heterosexual white males merely for being heterosexual white males is no more open to reasoning about their prejudice than is a neanderthal-brained Bible shouter open to reasoning about their prejudice against gays. It's "And Gawwwwd-ah! Sayyyyud-ah!" in either case. The only difference is the window dressing.
