Saw it happen on Rt 21 where it merges onto 20. some silly bitch was passing everyone on the shoulder to get to the merge. Big black car next to me suddenly lit up with hidden lights and nailed the bitch.

Just remember the license plate and make friends with a cop.

That would be unmarked traffic enforcement. They don't have too many of those in jersey City. The unmarked cars are mostly detectives on gang and drung patrol.

I saw news about a case in Switzerland a few months ago of someone who was reading a book while "driving," because he was stuck in a traffic jam. A cop gave him a ticket for it, but the court threw it out, ruling (wisely, IMO) that when the car is basically sitting still or else just inching along, he is not posing a risk to anyone.

It's also arguable that under those circumstances reading is beneficial, since it reduces frustration and therefore ROAD RAGE!!!! :ua:

I figured it WAS a detective who just saw what was happening and said to himself "Oh, I HAVE to nail THIS idiot!"

I doubt it was a detective cuz then he would have to schedule time in traffic court. I doubt they even carry a citation book.

    I didn't.

However, I'll tell you right here and right now. I am not stopping for an unmarked unit. Ever. Ideally, I'd drive directly to the nearest police station (if I knew where one was at) before stopping.

Anyone can buy a Crown Victoria, Charger, or Impala and put a siren, dash, rear deck, and grill lights on it.

I've had this exact same thought. Not only because it could be a carjacker or something, but because I don't approve of that particular LE tactic. What sort of consequences would a motorist face by making them follow you to the nearest police station, or at least the nearest crowded public area?

A parked unmarked cop tried to pull me over on the NJ Turnpike by pointing at me out his window as I went by. All I saw was a brown car with an arm sticking out. I pointed back and kept going. Then the lights came on and he chased me down. To his credit, he didn't say anything about it - I guess he knew well enough he didn't look like a cop car.
