Vox Populi: Should Goldeneye Be Freed?

Elwood left on vacation or something for a few days. Cheekymonkey, knowing that, posted personal details about her and Elwood. The thread was deleted, and she was banned. Goldeneye was also banned because she and him are dating or something. Jenna started a shitstorm in Anna's "Gee, now I'M sorry" thread and in the chatroom about the staff unfairly banning Cheekymonkey, and not banning TKO when TKO posted Jenna's AIM screenname. Jenna then went on to accuse the staff of letting Ted sexually harass her several months ago, even though she never reported the harassment to any of the staff members. She went on like that for a while, claiming such outrageous things like "you don't even KNOW!" and "I invented the question mark!" while other users egged her on by calling her fat. She eventually got tired of constantly being wrong and left the board.

Then this thread was started, after it was discovered that Goldeneye was banned. Many users questioned why he was banned, until it was finally revealed that it was "guilt by association." Miniborg posted a message from Goldeneye, Listy took it up himself to be an admin, I asked for a rule clarification, he accused me of wanting to have Miniborg banned. Diacanu is being his usual jesterly self, and then Face asked for a Cliff Note's version of the events of the past few days.

Timmy is now in the hospital, recovering from carpal tunnel.

I asked in this thread because my Help Desk thread would have been closed, and I didn't feel like spreading the drama fest to that forum too.

Wait, is Astaroth banned?!?! What Missy M. situation?!?! What the hell happened to this place?!?! (and I'm talking about the drama not just all the bannings!)

Missy kept getting into Astaroth's account, and revealing personal details about their offbeat relationship.

Wordforgers seem to attract psycho bitches like ants to spilled Kool-Aid.

Astaroth is now known as Quas.

As the mod of said forum, I can say that that forum is the place for it. Worded sans drama of course.

Well, then wordforgers should just stop adding water to themselves so they can't make a mess that can't easily be cleaned up. No bathing, no psycho bitches. Even psycho bitches have standards.

According to GE, when he got the 'You're banned" message it had the expiration set as "Never" and not something like "Until Elwood gets back."

Now was this just a mistake by whoever did the banning, is Goldeneye lying, or is there something much more shady going on here?

This policy has been kicking around years. No it's never been written down, but it isn't needed all that often so we don't really think much about it until someone posts a message from a banned member.

I'm sure since I already had cleared Mini-borg, it just seemed that way to Listkeeper. I mean, I said there would be nothing done and it looked like you were trying to get me to change my mind. I'm sorry if that isn't what you meant, but it can appear that way.

The banned message always says never unless you choose a set time period for unbanning. There is not built in "Until Elwood Gets Back" setting.

Well, it's hard to tell. It seemed to be consensual between her and Ted, until she called it off. But Ted hasn't posted here that often for the last few months.

I haven't seen any evidence of any wrongdoing.

That, and she took care of the problem. She was probably bringing it up because she was mad. She did that to me when we started arguing - brought up stuff that had been resolved.

Sorry, I guess with all the chaos I missed your post telling Miniborg not to post any more messages from GE. I only saw Listy posting about a rule I (and several other active members it seems like) had never heard of. I didn't mean to come off that way, I was simply asking for a rule clarification (which I should have done in the Help Desk, but oh well).

I for one find it hard to believe a woman would do such a thing.

The reason for the harshness re: CM is that Elwood's life is potentially in danger if his personal info gets posted online, given his profession. As for Goldeneye, I suspect he'll be unbanned when Elwood gets back and has a chance to confer with him privately. Most likely, he'll be asked to change his password and log out and stay away from the board if he's ever with CM. Just my guess.

I think Elwood made a huge mistake by starting a relationship with one of the board members.

None of my business of course. Or anyone else's. Just saying, after the whole Eccentric/Meka thing, he should have been more careful.

If Elwood is worried about personal information getting out then that is certainly a good enough reason to temporarily put the hammer down on Goldeneye. I hope that when he comes back, Elwood can straighten all this out for us.

He's always been sensible and level-headed... much more so than Cassandra or Borgs.

This is Elwood's board but it's also a community. And we as a community don't wan't to see Elwood get hurt in real life right?

This isn't like Borgs demanding that baba be banned just because he didn't like the cat. This has crossed over into real life shit which could potentially hurt someone's career. And if Elwood's out of the picture then that means no more Wordforge for anybody.

It's a shame that Elwood decided to start up with CM. Especially given the drama which introduced us to her in the first place (supposedly stalking vandygoddess).

The lesson for us all... don't mix online with real life! Scorponok has it right... if anyone I knew in real life started posting here that'd be it for me.
