A lot of people are freaking out over the possibility of Miniborg being banned.

I don't think anybody believes she is going to be banned. However, she does serve a useful purpose in pointing out hypocrisy.

As one of them, I can attest that most were likely asking him to stop being a prick, spamming the thread up with vitriolic nonsense in order to avoid the point that Goldeneye has been treated unfairly.

Ah, but that isn't the point we were discussing, Tamar. At issue is a few years back, when Borgs went nuts, posted personal information, and tried to get the board shut down. Being brother and sister, Mini is considerably closer to Borgs than Goldeneye is to CheekyMonkey. Applying the logic used to ban Goldeneye one could argue Mini should've been banned to prevent Borgs from using her account.

Well, at that time Elwood was here and able to deal with the issues himself, which is what usually happens with privacy issues.

In this case, the victim and the owner are the same person and aren't here to get things settled. I am in a position where, thought I am the "authority in command", there isn't much I can do because I can't negotiate the remedy with the victim and try to come to a resolution or pass it to the owner for finalization because..well, he's both and out of contact. Plus, I was given orders if things went out of control to ban them until he could get back and deal with it himself. It puts me in a no-win position where all I can do is listen to their side and advise patience.

I know everyone wants him back and feels it is unfair...but my hands are tied.

So Elwood just said to ban 'them' if there was any trouble? How does that translate to 'ban both even if only one of them causes trouble'? It doesn't, does it? Sure, Elwood is victim and owner - but victim of Cheecky, not of Goldeneye. Does this mean the only communication with Elwood was before any of this happened? In that case, it is your choice, Tamar, to ban Goldeneye, not Elwood's 'order'.

When you have reason to believe that someone as smitten with a woman as GE is with CM will not hesitate to continue to repeat her BS if given the opportunity, then yes, it is in fact common sense.
