Except Batman would not put up with that shit for five seconds. And the Joker would just kill all the protesters anyway, cuz it'd be funny.

And Batman doesn't want higher taxes. Higher taxes means less money to pay for all those gadgets he needs.

I argued only that making money from asset appreciation was not equivalent to hard work, as the supporters of fatcats contend. The thievery is elsewhere.

I worked it out once, the costumes, the tumbler, the bat computer, he could have all of that for a billion and change.
It's mostly the tumbler that eats it away.
The bat suit is only roughly half a mil if you remember.

He'd have plenty after taxes for his bat stuff.

I don't know who the fuck you think you're talking about, but I didn't claim asset appreciation was hard work. I'm saying your definition of "theft" is ridiculously broad.

Not everything is about you. The original point was made by Forbin. And it's a common theme to suggest that the super-rich are so mainly because of hard work.

My definition of theft is uncontroversial. The bailouts were theft, as was the fraud that preceded them.

And neither indicts "the rich" or "the banking industry" as a whole, so while you're loathe to acknowledge it, some wealthy people do deserve to keep their fucking money while others arguably do have a greater need for it.

False. The banking industry would not now exist in any recognisable form were it not for the bailouts.

Why invest such emotion on their behalf?
This is what I don't get...
I couldn't give a fuck about the bank balance of a mega-banker as much as I couldn't give a fuck about what Lady GaGa is raking in, or some goofy pampered ambassador, or some lawyer with a TV ad with Robert Vaughn in it.

I don't have an emotional investment in these people, I don't know why people on the right do, except maybe that they've bought into the "I'm gonna be rich, and I can just see 'em taking MY money!!", delusion, but...I thought you didn't buy into that, so...why so steamed?

Or, at least, why the knee jerk?

You can't know that. I imagine I'd be more eager than you to find out, but I know you'd just bail out someone else instead. Same disease, different symptoms.

Oh, but you and your anti-capitalist, proletarian victimhood mantras are fresh as godamned morning dew.

I can. All of the major banking institutions would have gone bust. The data is not particularly secret.

That you consider people who wish to avoid a return to the dark ages as being "diseased" says it all. You're more interested in self-righteous platitudes than workable solutions - the more unworkable the better, putting you on an ever higher pedestal from us lowly mortals who debase ourselves to deal with practical realities.

False dichotomy. The alternatives are not "forced wealth redistribution" or "dark ages."

And it's pretty goddamned arrogant to imply that your petty little convictions hold a monopoly on moral enlightenment.

Bitching about people who have more than you or how they got it is not "dealing with practical realities." It's sitting on your fucking ass and making excuses for failing at life.

These protests are about the top 1% and (mostly) financial capitalism as distinguished from industrial capitalism, the latter of which at least is productive. I imagine that you don't know too many people meeting those criteria.

And nobody is using the term "evil". It is structural problem, not a personal one. It isn't the case that if you replaced the people at the top with other people that things would necessarily be any better.

Kind of a count on one hand sort of thing. I'd bet.

These protests are made up of the same mish mash of lefty grievances that they always are.
