Remember, I'm no fan of modern 'progressivism'. The entitlement attitude is just as harmful as the merging of business and government. As for the police brutality that's being documented, yes, I am willing to throw the entire force under the bus because of those few bad apples. I read our pepper spraying cop at UC Davis that's getting 'Shopped into an internet meme was suspended. Good, but his ass really needs to fired at minimum. Will that happen? No -- and that's one of the fucking problems with the police. A few bad apples ruin it for the force, and they largely protect their own. ·Government should have minimal involvement in social services. Entitlement and a perceived imposement of a welfare state is not the way to go. ·Ideally, those dependent on the State should work to better themselves and get on their feet. Wishful thinking; the State (both state and federal) involvement in social services should be geared at minimizing welfare support. On paper, it does this already. In practice... ·Government has no business bailing out businesses. If businesses are on track to fail, the market should dictate its fate. None of this 'Too big to fail' crap; the bigger they are, the harder they fall... ·Business and government must divorce. Business has too big a hand in government; the over regulation of business by government helps no one. ·What regulation exists should be at basic environmental and health control. For example: Why the hell is sodium benzoate even used as a preservative? Companies should not be allowed to dump pollutants into a river. Regulations should also be in place to prevent Enron style disasters in place. Unfortunately, regulations are typically imposed after the fact, when they do no real good. That said, it feels like a revolution is in the works. That ratio that you and TKO mentioned in correcting my comments about the Boston Massacre (thank you for that, btw) will likely apply: 1/3 will be for the status quo, whatever it is. A minority will be the driving force for this uprising. Most Americans will be sitting on their ass going for the ride. And in the end, it's not going to end favourably for either the Liberals or the Conservatives, though someone will make out like a bandit.
Tuttle agrees: I admire your aspirations but not your prescience - things are not nearly bad enough anywhere in US for any kind of meaningful revolt. Must broaden your info base. "I have foreseen it." (Point taken )
So thousands should up to Occupy Olympia in order to protest at the opening of the Special Session to deal with the budget crisis. Not everyone was on message: Keep the Faith Brother!
