He'd probably cry if he fired my Garrand.

He'd more than cry, he'd sue. Especially if he loaded it with a wimpy hand.

Yep. If recoil from an AR-15 bothers you, a Garand's gonna break you in half.

I'm wondering what the gun control people would say if we had a mass fatality shooting with the principal weapon being a break open double barrelled shotgun.

    Or muzzle loaders.

The same thing they're saying now. The gun control people don't want some reasoned balance between 2nd Amendment rights and safety; they want to abolish gun ownership (or, at least, make the guns that can be owned useless for any defensive purpose).
Kinda hard to pull off the mass shooting with a muzzle loader unless everyone's already incapacitated and there's no way for the police to get to you.

Well I suggest you re-read what gun control folks have said. From my perspective, it is the gun fetishests who have no interest in balancing gun rights with safety. I'm actually amazed that you even recognized the idea that some balance should be struck. I suppose that's progress.

There's what they say, and there's what they do. I evaluate them by the latter because they definitely aren't doing the former straight.
When you start eroding the right to achieve safety, you've gone too far.

And compromise is of no use. As soon as the gun control side wins a point, its demands increase. I live in a state where a Remington 7400 hunting rifle is about to be labelled an assault weapon, so please don't tell me I'm paranoid or imaging things. I've seen the gun control playbook unfold.
I said that's what gun control advocates claim to want, but really don't.
    Sorry to disappoint. :diacanu:

Do what people who deer hunt with muzzle loaders do who want multiple shots. Take several loaded guns with them.

And for that matter there are quick reloaders for muzzle loading weapons.

 If this guy was so traumatized by an AR-15, I'd hate to see him shoot an M-44, nicknamed "The Ouch".

My Steyr-Mannlicher M1895 carbine kicked like a mule, it fired an 8x56 round. Straight pull bolt action ftw.

My full-sized Mosin-Nagant is the most punishing rifle I've ever shot. Just beats you up.

I can only imagine how rough the carbine version is on the person firing it.

There is no such weapon as a full auto AR-15.

A weapon that would be full auto and does look like the AR-15 does exist.

    We call it the M-16.

And he's an idiot who was probably holding the shotgun like an idiot.

I've shot plenty of shotgun 12 gauge. You're not going dislocate a shoulder unless you're doing something stupid with the shotgun.

Yeah, I used to think the Enfield I have kicked like a mule until I shot my Mosin. After that, I thought the Enfield's recoil was next to nothing.

My roommate has one that he bought this spring, and according to him the Russian's nickname is "The Ouch," and I have to say that that's a pretty apt nickname if that's the case.

Except for the fact that you're a liar. You want to ban all guns. And you like all gun grabbers are playing the slow game.

A little here. A little there. Oh look guns are now banned. How did that happen? :mystery:

No one believes anything you say on gun control because your actions always give away your endgame: banning all guns.

There can be no compromise with people like you. You lie about gun control. You lie about the weapons to scare non-gun owners.

    You're a liar.

The most punishing rifle I've owned is a 300 Win Mag with an ultra lightweight composite stock. I was used to firing a 30-06 in 700 Remington or an M1 Garand. The first time I fired the Win Mag the scope cut my forehead, although I was hunched over in an uncomfortable position to start with.

All in all though, it was a great rifle to take hunting as long as you were in a place that required a long hike and had no game anywhere that might tempt you take a shot.

You I don't think any has ever gone Heisenberg with a Remington 7400.........but that doesn't mean they might not start! Better to be safe than sorry! :calli: Wait - don't all those Chicago gang-bangers prefer the 7400? Somebody research that for me please. :chris:

    No, you're completely wrong.

First, "full auto AR-15" is a contradiction in terms.

Second, unless you receive a very exclusive license from the DOJ (a handful are given only to those in a few narrowly defined businesses), you cannot own a fully automatic firearm legally in California no matter how much you're willing to pay.

The dumbest thing? No different than any mass shooting discussion on the Internet: Gunlubbers arguing "It wasn't an AR-15 it was a Sig!!!!!11!" because to them that's the only thing that matters.

Meanwhile, a little closer to home, here's another anti-gay Indianian jihadist that the Santa Monica police pulled off the streets:

There were several points. (A) That the obsession with which killing machine was used in any given slaughter is more important to some people than the slaughter itself; (B) that the constant attempt to make this All About Them Evul Mooslims on the part of people like @gturner only further clouds the issue; and (C) that @gturner is an idiot.

I still think about the Virginia Tech shootings just a few years ago.

Was there talk of right wing talk radio inspiring hate as there have been after other shootings?

    No.

Was there massive talk of gun control?

    No.

    Why?

    1) The shooter was Asian.

    2) The guns involved were pretty much mundane hand guns that no gun control measure conceivable would prevent access to.

So the media pretty much downplayed both the killer and his weapons and instead focused on the victims.

There was also the fact that mass shootings were still rare enough to be considered tragedies and not shrugged off. His was also the last one I remember where video games were being blamed.

But like every other lunatic that followed him, he was mentally disturbed, and had a ton of red flags that went unchecked but was still considered cleared enough to own weapons.
