I've been listening to the Beatles a lot recently and thought I'd do this poll.

It's tough to choose. There are five on that list that would be a tie, with "Across the Universe" edging "Let It Be" out to the front for me.

They were just so brilliant, and so much a part of our culture, our lives (well...if you're of that age group), it's hard to declare decisively that one of those albums is better than the other.

    Good topic though, Wayne!

    Thanks!

Dead even between Rubber Soul, Revolver, Abbey Road, and Let it Be. I couldn't pick a preference.

To pick a particular album out of the continually changing basis of their music is hard. I was and am still pretty fond of their earlier girlie screaming works though the evolution of their work is just as good but in a different time. I fail to find any of their work substandard.

If I had to chose one of them all with all things considered, I'd have to go with The White Album.

I didn't expect so many other votes for Revolver. I thought most people would pick Sgt Peppers or White Album.

I think the new stripped down version of let it be that mccartney released a few years back is way better than the original phil spector produced album...

beatles for sale is easily their weakest album

and if you're including yellow submarine and magical mystery tour you could also have included the past masters albums...

I included everything listed under "studio albums" on Wikipedia. Those two were on the list.

Revolver is definitely the one that gets the most play from me. I think my favourites are I'm Only Sleeping, Here There and Everywhere and And Your Bird Can Sing.

My favouritest ever Beatles song as at the time of writing is I'm Looking Through You, though, and the Rubber Soul album is a close second.

I think I'd go with Rubber Soul. Revolver is very, very close. The odd thing is that Sergeant Pepper's doesn't hold up quite as well as the others even though it was ground breaking for the time. My theory for a long time has been that Sgt. Pepper's contained so many elements that later became cliches that it sounds cliche laden. It's very hard to see it as groundbreaking when you take it out of the historical context.

That said, Rubber Soul and Revolver have a lot of innovative ideas themselves, but to me they hold up extremely well.

Take them for all and all, we shall not see their like again.

Revolver because it has "Taxman" on it. Rubber Soul is a close second because I really like "Think For Yourself".

Think For Yourself doesn't get much respect from critics, but it's my favorite track on Rubber Soul.

And you picked Revolver because of Taxman?! Don't get me wrong, it's pretty good. But did you hear the rest of the album?!

I picked Help! simply because I think it captures the early poppy Beatle sound so well and they are all just real fun songs. But like someone else said, it all depends on the day which is my favorite. But it's so amazing to hear the transition in sound from 1962 to 1969. There are many bands today who still sound the same after 8 years.

The Beatles are my #1 band of all time. My fascination with them is quite pathetic at times!

I grew up with Sgt. Peppers so it has always been my favorite.

Favorite song on the other hand is Happiness is a Warm Gun.

The White Album. I had some hippie friends who played it often as we smoked the best weed available at the time. Good times!!
