I also find myself moving the rifle more when racking a bolt. With the lever, I can generally stay on target better. But, ya know, everybody's different.

Pretty unfair for those of us with a five-shot Ariska.

Wilipedia reveals ;) I've never fired one of those but I suppose that they could be fast given the straight pull.

They're also supposed to be ridiculously accurate.

My Swedish Mauser is ridiculously accurate too. I think simple barrel length is the key? Or are you saying the K31's are more accurate than comparable rifles?

The references to Lee Enfield in this thread give me a bit of a kick as I was born in Enfield, where they were orginally designed and built.

Its important to remember that that 10 shot repeater is normally going to have a round much less powerful than 7.62x54R.

I always got a kick thinking that the Germans didn't completely invent the concept of the assault rifle - we were using intermediate power rounds in the west in rifles with high capacity tubes for decades to compliment low power pistols and high power rifles.

How could I not have seen this thread! Definitely the M1895 Steyr-Mannlicher long rifle, and the Mauser Gewehr M98 long rifle. Classic rifles, accurate and hard hitting.

That's what I've heard, for what that's worth.

But then again, they are Swiss made.
