In which case, since you'll be covered by your parents' insurance until age 26, you'll be able to afford to see your doctor and get help for that.

Are people who already have insurance going to be signing up for a program intended to provide insurance for people who don't have it?

    Well, no, probably not.

    Your point?

This is like criticizing a program that helps first-time homebuyers by saying "Well, if it's so great, why don't all the homeowners in Congress do it? Huh? Huh?"

And yet you're still a proponent of it.

There are 2 major hospital corporations in my area that own every hospital and some pharmacies, clinics, labs, etc. within about a 100 mile radius. They're both laying off staff and one of them is in the process of closing 2 rural hospitals.

Some of the home health and private duty nursing agencies that are independent of these 2 corporations are cutting out overtime and trying to cut back to 30 hours per week.

Before this is over, I may very well wind up working 2 jobs, if I can get them, to make the same income I've had with one.

When I got my degree 25 years ago, I thought I was in one of the safest professions on the planet. Not anymore.

    Thanks, Obama!

Because grownups understand that not everything can be reducible to ones and zeroes.

Your attitude seems to be "If it's not EXACTLY what I want I DON'T WANT ANYTHING!!"

See how that works out for you in the World After Grad School.

I'm still waiting to hear about this great solution that Captain X is sure exists, even though he doesn't know what it is.

Maybe it's locked in a top-secret room at the Heritage Foundation, where ... no, wait, the Heritage Foundation plan is Obamacare.

There's your problem right there. That and the fact that until the ACA Cigna owned most of Tennessee.

But being a slave to corporate masters is okay as long as they feed you, right?

No, you've just deluded yourself so much that you're willing to advocate something even after you admit it got FUBAR'd. You're also apparently too immature to see not doing something as an option in opposition to doing something that will do harm, all to the tune of "well we had to do something!" :rotfl:

It's funny, because the more you try to talk down to me and my intelligence, the more you make yourself look stupid and delusional.

I currently pay about half for my individual plan than what the White House lists as the "lowest" in Pennsylvania.

You can thank your local legislators for that. My new plan in California will be substantially lower than the former one.

Yes, you do keep trying to Castle people's words. It's idiotic enough when he does it; you don't gain IQ points by copy-catting.

The grownups understand that the ACA as it stands is not the ACA as first proposed, because the Republicans were able to chip away at some of it.

The grownups understand that, in spite of this, the ACA itself is a good start toward better access to healthcare for all Americans.

You seem to be advocating for a single-payer plan. Are you?

No, that game where you very heavily infer something, but avoid saying it directly so when someone confronts you on it, you can claim you didn't actually say it.

You inferred that I implied something I did not.

Can we at least agree on the grammar before we take this further?

Do you pay 100% of your premium? Standard is about 35%.

    Chicken Little shit...

Hospitals in my area are predicting a boom. Estimates believe that up to 30 million new people will have access to health insurance and will use it. We are scrambling trying to implement quality measures to keep healthcare standards up.

I guess it all depends on whether you want this to work or not.

I haven't seen 1 fee schedule yet. I'm not saying that no one has, but I'd really like to see for myself.

Texas' concerns don't shock me... Seeing as how Texas is content to be at almost the bottom rung of the ladder on healthcare quality and delivery of any state in the union.

Well, that's bound to happen when an entire major political party abandons their responsibility. They were the one who were content with things the way they were and offered no substantial ideas.

IIRC, ACA does that as well.... The thing about a mandate is that without it, no matter how cheap it is, a lot if people still won't buy insurance and will just play the odds.

I know a few young sole proprietors... They'd rather hire a new employee or buy a new piece if equipment to enhanced their business than buy insurance for themselves or employees. One of them, very smart, would rather use the ER for primary care than carry insurance because she's healthy for the most part.

The interstate commerce would not be enough.

I hate to sound cold, but your experience must have been anecdotal. Like I pointed out earlier, the average cost of health insurance is about $12k for a family and about $6k for an individual.

    How very original.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but I have often stated that I'm not entirely pleased with the ACA. Unlike you, I'm a grownup who understands that politics is the art of compromise. We got what was possible. My plan would be expanding Medicare to cover all Americans. So, as is typical, you are completely wrong.

    Cry some moar! :sob:

And yet, they're getting their shit subsidized by the taxpayers. So technically, no, they're not exempt, but functionally, yes, they are.

Y'know, functionally is what actually matters. If we're paying what they should be paying, then yes, they are for all intents and purposes exempt.

Oh, you're 'not entirely pleased'?! Well, way to take a fuckin' stand! With defenders of individual rights like you, we're sure to remain a free people! At least, that is, if the fuckin' teletubbies ever try to abrogate our rights!

Yeah, man! Fuck you! Obamacare may be raising premiums and reducing provider choice across the board, but that's what you get! For... um... for whatever it was you did. You must have done something wrong. Were you born in the U.S.? 'Cause that would do it! You filthy, rotten... person who was born in the U.S., you!

And this, folks, is the entire Right Wing Argument against the ACA in a single paragraph. While this particular post will vanish in the move, the attitude will come with us.

Tune in for more cogent argument from the Do Not Wants on the other side...
