Starting this one early.... I'll be voting for Obama tomorrow. Gotta stop teh Hillary. My wife is an independent, but she registered as a Republican in order to cast a "stop Huckabee" vote. Now that Huckabee is no longer much of a factor, she'll cast a "stop McCain" vote and vote for teh Mitten.
Couldn't find enough difference between Hillary and Barack, so I took the GOP ballot and voted McCain.
Our primary isn't until March, and I've got to go re-register to vote where I currently live. I've only got a few more days to do so in order to vote in the primary in March. And then I'll vote for Ron Paul if he is still running, if not I'll vote for the looney candidate.
You left off the guy I wanted to vote for. But then, so did the Michigan primary ballot, so I guess it's OK.
I figured it was one of those bizarre arcane taxation terms that vary from state to state. Like the way Michigan measures its property taxes in "mills." But Wikipedia says it actually means something.
Well, by-God West Virginia voted for by-God Huckabee, with by-God Romney a close second, and McCain a distant third. Make of that what you will.
Just to clarifiy, the Primary isn't for another three months. It was the GOP delegates that decided who they would suppot, without the imput of the voters on this state. Now, someone explain to me the logic of having the Primary in May when the delegates make their decision in February.
You didn't hear? McCain and huck and Paul engaged in skullduggery. When romney one the first ballot but failed to reach 50%, McCain's point man instructed McCain voters to vote for Huckabee in order to prevent a Romney win. O2C reports Paul supports had their support bought with a promise of 3 delegates. This from two candidates who never speak ill of each other yet insist they are not colluding. I'm gonna laugh like hell if McCain ditches his stalking horse at the alter and puts someone else on his ticket. Still, it's a brilliant strategy for McCain- co-opt a candidate far to the right of you (or rather, precieved to be) and let him suck up the votes of those who would never support you....then, when the stalking horse's voters are emotionally invested in him, enjoy the rewards when your bitch folds his tent and tells his right wing voters to support YOU. Truly it is no surprise the man gets on so well with Clinton.
God, I truly hope McCain does NOT choose Huckabee as a running mate! That'd be enough to drive me to the other side.
This is pretty true, but with one notable exception: Ron Paul!!! ...Who has no chance of winning, so what you say will turn out to be correct in practice...
Wow, Paul must have gotten half his total votes just from WordForge. Anyway, I voted for Obama, as did almost everyone I know.
In the end I voted for the couch. In a primary the "lesser evil" is much less of a motivation than in the general, given the extreme polarization of the parties right now. I like Clinton marginally better than I like Obama, but I don't really like either, the difference isn't that big, Clinton was always going to win my district and state so my vote had no chance of affecting delegate counts, and either of them is so vastly better than McCain and the also-rans that I'll have no trouble deciding in the general election. While I don't hew to the Uncle Albert position on voting, neither do I see such great virtue in it to motivate me to go out and vote when it really doesn't matter.
Except that Romney/Huckabee can't happen. Huck would shoot Romney dead before the election took place. Huck hates Romney with the kind of fiery passion that Cheney has for torturing people.
