Why do libtards thinks "abolish ICE" and opening the borders will win them 2020?

So I was listening to NPR just now and they had an interview with Ocasio-Cortez and, boy, does she have a burning hatred for Israel and the Jewish people. Demanding all aid be cut from Israel, declaring it had sole blame for there not being peace in the middle east, and saying she is part Palestinian (which helps explain her one sided position and visceral hatred of the Jewish people). She sounded like she was practically spitting when said the name Israel.

    Wow, just wow.

Last I checked, Israel isn't poor. Why do they need aid?
They certainly hold all the cards between themselves an Palestine, and the current leaders there absolutely do not want peace. :async:

There's probably a difference between the Israeli government and the Israeli people. That's why I don't hold you and John accountable for everything Trump does. :async:

Even left leaning folks have noticed she is just not that well informed. Lately, she has been going off the deep end into true stupidity.

Why would I be accountable for what Trump does given I am not remotely a supporter and never voted for him. How can you really be this stupid?

Also, no, in 2018 Irans military budget is ever so slightly larger than Israel's for the forst time. So, yeah, keeping them on par is an important and valuable thing to do, my not very well informed friend. Most of tge aid is military aid designed to help Israel keep its edge so it isn't threatened with destruction by the savages who surround it.

Why do Trumpistas think anyone who doesn't agree with Fearless Leader on immigration and doesn't share his bigoted views is automatically in favor of open borders and abolishing ICE?

I would wager I'm the only one who is in favor of that, honestly.

It is fun, by the way, when someone says "you're a liberal," and I can reply "oh my, no, no... but I am a communist."
It's even better when someone super Christian sees my beard and asks me if I'm Muslim and I reply "Oh goodness, no, no I'm not Muslim. ...I'm a witch."

It's that one-two punch that is so much fun. I'm utterly harmless, but a few words and people are suddenly on edge. It's what years and years of propaganda does to a person.

Exactly. That's why "Fuck Trump" obviously doesn't mean "Fuck Dinner." But for some reason you think any criticism of the Israeli government means that critic hates Jews?
    1. Again, they're not poor. Let them spend their own money on their own if they want to.

    2. Who gives a shit if Iran budgeted slightly more for their military this year? Do you think all that's stopping Iran from directly attacking Israel is their slightly larger military budget? :chris:

The US agreed to provide military aid in exchange for Israel taking part in various peace processes (Egypt, Jordan, and Lebenon come to mind) so it is good for the U.S. to live up to its obligations. Second it gives us influence for a relatively cheap price and provides regional security by deterring Muslim ambitions for war.

Iran has been very vocal that they want a 100,000 man shiite militia perminently in Syria (they have only managed around 10,000 so far) but their goal is to destroy Isreal.

"Muslim ambitions for war"? When has Shia Iran ever overtly attacked anyone? Clue - it hasn't. Part of the problem is that Iranian sabre rattling is to often taken literally by Israel and the US or used as an excuse for deliberately painting Iran as the most feared enemy. But yuou point about high military spending really is nonsense. Why? (1) The US isn't backing Iran up and (2) Iran doesn't have the secret, undeclared stockpile of nukes that the US gave Israel.

Israel is in no danger of being wiped off the map, despite what hard right politicians like Netanyahu want you to believe.

Prison reform needs to happen yesterday and private prisons are a bane on society, but abolishing the penal system all together is just stupid and unworkable.

Agreed. Prison reform is needed desperately. Any system that makes a profit off of keeping people behind bars is a threat to everyone.

If the state is going to deprive one of Liberty, then they should be responsible for that. I’m starting to turn on the death penalty for similar reasons. I’m still for it under certain circumstances (Bin Laden comes to mind), but it should be harder for the state to kill one of its own.

I also wanna add that “Orange is the New Black” has opened my eyes to private prisons. Yes it’s a fictional show, but a lot of it is based on reality.

Lastly, if you really want to see real, systematic racist, look no further than the private prison system. You can call me, @Dinner , @oldfella1962 ET al racist all you want, but we’re not actually implementing racist tactics/policies. Not that I’m admitting to being a racist.

It should be damned near impossible for the state to kill any citizen. I'm not willing to let them have that kind of power because it is so much easier to destroy than it is to create, and in a system where economy is paramount, where profit is the driving force, that's just a deadly combination.

I agree for the most part. Like I said, certain circumstances imply that the death penalty should apply. Hitler, Bin Laden, Caesar, etc. not because of any type of deterrent, but more like a societal display. Unfortunately none of those I mentioned were afforded a trial and sentencing.

Well, I'm against the death penalty in all cases, so that's why I don't think it should be used at all. That was one of the reasons I wrote Obama back when he signed off on that drone strike that killed an American citizen, and then that man's 16 year old son a few weeks later. Yeah, the guy was an imam working with terrorist groups including Al-Qaeda, but we're not some fascist dictatorship that just outright murders people and doesn't even give them a trial. Oh wait, clearly we are some kind of country that says "fuck due process, we're just going to murder them."

Of course, Donald Trump didn't make anything better by approving a DEVGRU/Seal Team Six raid that resulted in the deaths of 24 civilians, including a baby, along with Al-awaki's 8 year old daughter, who was an American citizen, because... um... freedom?

So what the fuck are we doing?

The greatest two documents ever written in the history of mankind are the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, we can all disagree on the nuances of what those entail or what they should live up to, but I’m pretty sure on some basic level, we want similar things. My issue is that we’ll never see another FDR, Washington, Lincoln, Kennedy, Eisenhower, Reagan, etc. again and that makes me sad. I fear we’re going to continue with the continuous pissing/American Idol contest. I keep hoping for another Kennedy, Washington, Eisenhower, Lincoln, FDR, but I don’t see it happening.

I agree we're kind of in the shitter for great Presidents, but I think a lot of it also comes down to the general populace. We're electing people who reflect us, especially our worst fears. A lot of that has to do with the ignorance that gets spread around the internet. I believe the last survey that Annenberg Policy Center conducted showed that only 26% of the U.S. population knew the three branches of government (source).

THERE ARE ONLY THREE AND 74% OF THE U.S. POPULATION DOESN'T KNOW THEM!

So yeah, I'm not so optimistic, either. I know coming from a communist this may sound opportunistic, but I don't think the democracy to which we have grown accustomed is the democracy that will survive for much longer, not if this continues.
