LINK Okay, now the skinning cats alive part, he should be skinned alive himself. However, why should eating any animal that is not owned by someone else, if killed in a humane and proper way be a crime?? This to me is bullshit. Eating a cow, sheep, rat, dog, horse or cat should make no difference. Some people keep pigs as pets. Anyone willing to give up bacon?
If he's skinning them alive then he's a budding serial killer who needs to be put down. Other than that...man's gotta eat. How many people throughout history have eaten their own animals in times of extreme famine?
The skinning part needs him locked away for good. That said as a society we put certain animals off limits for eating. Cats are one of them. Of course in a mass starvation situation dogs and cats will go bye-bye but until that happens you don't eat them.
While that may be, it should not be a crime. Ostracized maybe, but a crime no!! In that case, might remember the Donner party.
Well you can always work to change the law but I don't think you'll find too many people supporting your right to eat dog and cat.
True. But the question is: What justification is there for that? Isn't that just "the tyranny of the majority"? I like cats very much, but have no problem with the principle of someone eating cat.
I would take severe exception to someone eating cats unnecessarily, but different strokes for different folks. I just happen to love the furry little bastards- never really met a cat I didn't like and that didn't like me. Better company than most people and the majority of dogs. In fact, if you DO eat cats it would probably better to not tell me about it.
First, I don't think farmers have to have a license. Secondly, I don't have to have special permission to kill an animal I slay on my own land, as long as it is in the state I live in, or to then butcher that animal.
You're missing some big qualifiers there. Are you talking about game animals? Let a Game Warden find out you killed a deer, turkey, etc. out of season. The State doesn't care if it's on your property or not. If you're not talking about game animals, and you're talking about livestock like cows or pigs. You have a point. Go right ahead. Harvest it. Butcher it. Serve it to your family. But, woe be unto you if you try to sell it. That's a Federal crime.
The selling part makes sense. As for the rest, if I want to hunt to feed my family I should be able to anytime. Imagine trying to explain to our Founding Fathers that they could be jailed for killing a deer or buffalo for food and skins.
Minus the "skin them alive" psychopath shit, the rest is just humanity's arbitrary double standards on what is and is not OK to murder and devour. That said, if I caught some dude trying to skin and eat my dog, they won't have to worry about catching and prosecuting him..
One man's mouser is another man's macaroni? In all seriousness, though... skinning cats alive? Where's that get fun?
I'd put it down, at a minimum, to one of those laws which exists but is never enforced, like old laws against adultery for example.
Speaking of cats...anyone want a kitten? Some very cruel person abandoned their cat a few months ago. Evidently just moved away and left their cat behind . At first we just left food and clean water out for her. She was obviously pregnant. Then the weather turned cold, and my soft-hearted housemate let her inside to keep warm. Well, needless to say, we have a new cat and three weeks ago, she had her kittens. Four very adorable furry balls of "what the fuck are we gonna do with them when they're weaned", errrrr, fun. Three boys and one girl. Cute little buggers. they are now just starting to get curious about their surroundings.
