I'll bet hard cash it doesn't last that long, regardless of what ABC is saying.

The producers have it planned out until the series finale, so unless they do something stupid like killing off all the main characters and changing the setting to the Grey's Anatomy hospital, they should be fine.

So? If the ratings continue to drop ABC will pull the plug despite plans anyone has made.

Seriously, from what I've seen and read the show smacks of making shit up as they go along. If it's planned out then it's even stupider as a show than Flashlight is as a booster. I'd believe they have the finale planned, but believing anything beyond that seems pretty naïve to me.

Of course they're making it up as they go along.

LOSTzilla shaking trees in the pilot and now he slips queitly around them as a wisp of smoke.

Anything dealing with the numbers (they tried to attach significance to them after people got pissed when they said they mean nothing)

A hundred other "cool" things that don't make sense later.

Oh yes, the numbers, I forgot about the numbers.

WTF is the deal with the numbers?

The ratings for media darling Deperate Housewives dropped more than they did for LOST, yet nobody's talking about it being canceled.

LOST still wins it's time slot, and it's demographic. The ratings, while down from the season 1 peak, are still very strong. Yet another carnard the haterz spew in their disinformation campaign.

I wonder if Ron Moore had the entire nuBSG series planned out from day 1? :chris:

I wonder if the Heroes guys know what they're going to be doing in mid-season 4? Short answer - no. They were just hoping the show would get an initial order for a full season, much less being reupped for additional seasons.

Wrong. Again. LOSTzilla blew up trees in season 3. And it was slipping amongst trees in season 1, further demonstrating you've never actually watched the show.

Just because they didn't deal with it in season 3 doesn't mean it's going to be abandoned. When they revisit why Libby was in the mental institution, we'll probably get movement on it.

Of course, you're forgetting the online Lost Experience, which DID provide an "official" explanation for the numbers.

Fuck that. I don't go online for ANY TV show.

    If it isn't on-screen, I don't care.

I'm not sure why Flashlight thinks that posting poorly-written diatribes against Heroes will make any of us enjoy it less.

My enjoyment Heroes does not impinge on anyone else's viewing pleasures.

    Where's that masturbation smiley?

Anyway, yeah, I prefer willful ignorance.
I watch TV for entertainment. If it isn't important enough to the story to be IN the story, it isn't important enough for me to go seek out on the internet.

I didn't read the Heroes online comic. I didn't watch the BSG podcasts or the mini-eps. And I don't go to "The Lost Experience" or whatever it's called.

Call it willful ignorance if you want. I call it shoddy writing. Especially if an IMPORTANT plot point, like the significance of the numbers, is revealed elsewhere besides the show.

And finally, I think we need an explanation of why Superman is better than all the Heroes heroes combined...

This thread isn't about BSG. But even so BSG has a fairly simple premise "Society destroyed, run, stay alive, find Earth". They have screwed up the "god" storyline pretty bad.

The Heroes format is each season is supposed to be a self contained chapter, so what's going to be happening mid season 4 is irrelevent until early season 4.

They never showed LOSTzilla in his "smoke" form in season 1. In the pilot the trees were moving directly implying that "something" large and solid was out there. They retconned that into a wisp of smoke. As to blowing up trees...yeah...explain that. I know the scene you're talking about, but what was the point of the trees going up...besides "hey wouldn't it be cool if?".

    Oh my....you went there...

    Lets see...

I started watching at season 1 episode 11, I immediately went and downloaded episodes 1-10. I own both the season 1 and season 2 box sets. I've saw the premiere to season 2 a week before the rest of the world, I saw the premiere of season 3 4 days before the rest of the world. You see, I live on Oahu where they film the show, and every year the show the season premieres early at "Sunset on the Beach" in Waikiki.

So take that strawman and well....use your imagination

No, I said that because the creators have gone on record saying the numbers don't hold any special meaning and that they were suprised that people latched onto them. Before you ask, I don 't have a link, either believe me or not.

I'm well aware of the Lost Experience's explanation and the Valenzetti equation...not on TV, didn't happen.

Another request to move this to the RR since it's super obvious Flashlights intent was to troll Heroes fans and not any real discussion.

Your "there can be only one" kick is getting real old, Flashie. Let people enjoy what they enjoy, whether it's both, one or neither. Posting retarded blog diatribes isn't going to make Lost the "winner" in this silly contest of yours.

He doesn't realise his schtick is self defeating. As I said earlier in the thread, I'm a LOST fan...which is bad for Flashie. He holds up LOST as this holy grail of TV programming which just begs for someone like me to bring him back to reality. Being a fan, I know all of the shows warts, and can expose them quite easily.

Heroes has it's warts too, but no one is holding it up as perfect television.

    You're right.

    Nothing matters.

    All is darkness and despair.

The stench of rot hangs heavy on the lethargic breeze.

The last candle sputters impotently, night closing in from all sides.

    Woe. Woe.

    Wow. Wow.

I think it's hilarious that some people take a television series so seriously that any criticism of the show is actually taken personally. Wow. Talk about having no life. It also speaks volumes about that person's maturity and sanity.

I happen to enjoy Rescue Me immensely. You don't like it? I don't give a fuck. You want to criticize it? Go ahead. I'm not going to sit here and defend it as though you were insulting my family. It's. Just. A. Fucking. Television. Show.

To get Flashy riled up further....:soma:

"But for those blue-balled () by Lost's meanderings, release has been made possible by another show. The freshman NBC hit, Heroes, ended its fall season with a bang — or at least some kind of nuclear explosion. Following the expository pilot, each episode pivoted around the central question of whether a merry band of "genetically enhanced humans" could work together to save the world. Did they succeed? Well, actually (and here's the kicker) there is something of an answer (though a complex one), and that kind of resolution-giving is what has made the show so deliciously satisfying thus far."

"Maybe now, Lindelof — and the rest of the Lost team — can, in turn, take away a little wisdom from its younger sibling. Does "Save the Story, Save the Show" sound like good advice?"

    Which pretty much covers it.

    Which pretty much doesn't.

The argument that Heroes is the anti-LOST was covered by the original article that started the thread. LOST is the show for those who preferred Youngblood and Gen13 from Image Comics over Byrne's Next Men from Dark Horse. It's the show for Ritalin Nation, the show that doesn't demand a committment of time or patience from it's audience (which, ironically, isn't the template established by the Uncanny X-Men comic - Claremont took forever to resolve his storylines). If Heroes is the superior of LOST for this reason, then it's also arguably the superior of nuBSG as well - after all, Moore's making the audience wait 4 seasons for the big Earth payoff.

I get the feeling that had you been alive at the time (and perhaps you were?), you're the type who would have complained that the mystery of the one-armed man hadn't been solved within the first five episodes. Instead the producers, who obvioulsly had no idea what they were doing, and the writers, who obviously were making it up as they went with no overall plan, took 4 meandering seasons and 120 agonizing episodes until they finally let Dr. Richard Kimble catch the one-armed man and clear his name.

Unfortunately for you, I've never claimed that LOST was perfect. So your straw-man goes bye-bye. All I'm claiming here is that it's better than Heroes, or nuBSG for that matter.
