Well, you certainly don't want it to be, since you don't want to deal with my comparison.

Whereas LOST is an original show, Moore had a blueprint to work from (excuse me, "reimagine"). He's thrown in some hipster stuff that he knows will play to his audience (hamfisted anti-christian b.s., anti-Iraq occupation parallels), but otherwise he's following the same general course the original set.

Exactly how the producers of LOST have described the overall plan for the show. Each season deals with a certain aspect of the overall story/mystery.

Absolutely wrong, and further proof that you've never watched the show.

So there's no room for "cool" in sci-fi/fantasy shows? At this point, I have no idea why LOSTzilla blows up trees.

Yet despite what you're claiming here, you're not aware that LOSTzilla was shown as smoke wisps in season 1? :jayzus:

The producers also once said that Dominic Monaghan would always have a job with the show.

    Anything's possible.

You're not a Heroes fan, you're just anti-Flashlight. Therefore, you have no standing to make the request. This thread needs to stay exactly where it is, it's Media Central all the way.

I was alive at the time and the drama with The Fugitive lay with Kimble's interaction with others. It never was really about the one-armed man. To resolve THAT plot would have been the end of the show.

With Lost, you'd think it would kill the producers to answer what the smoke critter is, what Dharma is about, etc. The advantage with Heroes was that it could answer a mystery but leave more questions to be answered. Thus creating a more dynamic show.

By comparison, Lost is like eating pizza night after night. You might adjust the toppings but it's still pizza. People get tired of pizza all the time and want steak.

Your problem is, you're equating boredom with a short attention span, which isn't the same thing at all. The "blue ball" analogy is quite apt - most people would prefer a partner who puts out over one that just leads them on. Sooner or later that simply gets old.

How many people are *that* fanatical about a show that they'll go online to get "explainations" about a show form an online site?

I'm with Rosencratz here. Most people are either entertained, or they aren't, and probably won't care much beyond that.

    Yes, lets....

    Excuse me, Twin Peaks fans?
How many of you are there? Mm-hmm. And how many season did your show last? Ok, thanks!

    Alright, X-Files fans!
How many of you were frustrated with the general lack of any answers to the "mysteries" of the X-Files? Uh-huh, I see. And how many of you think that makes you an ADD-afflicted retard? Ah, yes.

Lost was originally supposed to be a mini-series, and they did have it planned out, until it became a hit and ABC wanted to milk a few seasons out of it. So the producers just expanded the mini-series and filled in some unplanned stuff along the way. But in the big picture, they know how they're gonna end it.

Continue to drop? Not only has Lost been getting the highest ratings for the new timeslot it's in, but after its big ratings slump, viewership went up by a couple million and remained steady until the finale, when viewership actually increased during the last half hour. And it was up against the American Idol finale.

Heroes has online stuff too, which also happens to explain a lot of mysteries that the show never answered nor will answer.

It lasted one season. Yeah, it RAN two seasons, but it lasted only one. meaning S2 blew so many chunks I don't count it as existing.

    [action=Forbin]'s hand shoots way up.[/action]

Have a source? From what I understand Lost was in production before they even had a story nailed down. Jack was originally planned to die, characters were being added and rewritten on the fly, etc.

It's just something I recall reading, but no I don't recall where I read it.

And I think Jack was supposed to die because he was gonna be played by some famous movie actor (I can't recall who), and they wouldn't have been able to afford to keep him on for more than a few episodes.

And even if characters were being added, killed, and rewritten, that doesn't mean that the producers didn't know the general outline of where they were taking the show.

Thing is, I don't care if they have things planned out or not.

Nothing should be immutable in a story, everything should be subject to change.

All I care about is getting a good story.

They've shown that they are willing to get rid of things the fans don't like, such as Shannon, Boone, Anna Lucia, Michael, Walt, and Charlie.

But yes, a good story is important.

From what I understand Jack was originally supposed to be killed as a surprise twist; they set his character up as a lead and Lostzilla kills him at the end of the episode (Kate was originally supposed to be the lead).

The studio liked Matthew Fox and the character and pushed to keep him in.

But at the time I don't recall anyone claiming they knew what they were doing. It was all very slapdash. The project was so out of control ABC actually fired the exec who greenlit it.

I don't feel that this thread really came to a satisfying resolution due to my unjustified banning a few months ago. And with Heroes season #2 having gotten underway, and LOST spoilers now hitting the net, this thread deserves a bump. :)
