Yeah, that's the only reason I know from talking to many many women about this that there are at least several of your female companions out there that you know actually like to dress in a nice suit/skirt combination. They don't mind being considered beautiful just for being a woman and highlighting that affect, in fact they know that it can often give them an edge in a business situation. I really wonder if you aren't actormike given your complete lack of understanding your fellow females...
It wouldn't surprise me if Rosie actively resents her fellow females for embracing that oppressive yoke.
Agreed. I've worked in a professional environment, and I've never been told I had to wear heels or skirts. Can they even DO that? As for the article....I don't have the slightest idea what American men as a whole prefer, but I personally am curious what it would be like to be with an asian woman. I'm not too into how thin most of them are, but I love the facial features and the grace that so many asian women seem to posess.
Obviously, no one told me to. Because yeah, that'd be against the law. But I did get a couple of comments. Not from the boss. Just one guy, who wanted to date me, he mentioned I oughta try wearing heels or a skirt to be more "feminine". It bothered me, but what can ya do, I guess. If my opinion really is in the minority, maybe I'll just quietly duck out the rear door. Certainly I'm no stranger to holding unpopular opinions.
That's why to me I think her whole problem is purely her mixed up perception. As a side note, can some things around here remain hetero.
Babe, get ready for a lifetime of such comments. Are you one of those fine babes that take offense at others admiration of you. I hate those.
I didn't think of it at the time. He was (mostly) nice. Kinda like Storm, you know? Brashly charming in his more...well, non-PC ways. I took care of it thru HR. But now it's been too long since it happened, and I really don't feel like going thru the brouhaha of a trial for something that, when I look on it thru a non-hysterical eye, probably wasn't as earth-shattering as it felt to me for a time.
Granted, but there's no logical reason to wear a tie, either. And you don't have to wear high heels with women's office dress attire. There is a very wide range of pretty, professional modern flats and low heels. They have become very much back in style in the past few years, particularly with young women. Wearing those shoes, it would be hard for any reasonable person to claim you are not dressed professionaly, unless you A.) work at Prada Shoes, B.) work at a strip club. What the hell kind of skirts are you wearing?! Unless you're wearing a mini-skirt (which you shouldn't be wearing to an office anyway), how the hell is showing some calf non-professional, if you work at any place other than 'Amish Industries'? If you're not comfortable showing any leg, that's fine, but it's hard for me to see how you can argue a modest skirt is non-professional. And comfort level is subjective, anyway. I happen to find skirts more comfortable than pants. In the summer I hardly ever wear pants. Please. Women dress for other women. To impress other women. Men don't really give that big a flip about it. Most men, unless they are in the fashion industry, aren't going to care, and probably don't even notice, that you're wearing a Betsey Johnson wool boucle chartreuse blazer and matching A-line skirt with Gucci heels and Anthropologie chandelier earrings. Honey....many things about humanity are meant to titillate. Quite a lot of what people do is because of sex. Empires rise and fall because of it. Its a strong drive. Even men's clothing was meant to titillate. Wow. What were they designed for, then? Of course men's suit wear designed to make men look good in them, to emphasize the masculine features. People go to school for years, just to study how to make suits that make men look fabulous. 1. Shoulder pads- Emphasizing the shoulders to broaden out a man's chest, make him appear larger, and more dominate. Exaggerated shoulders is a common theme in many cultures costumes. It improves the lines of the body. 2. Long, straight cut pants- Again, lengthening the line of the leg, makes them appear taller, leaner in the right spots (waist and legs). 3. Jacket ending at waist- Longer frock coats can make most men appear short. Ending at the waist, where a man's body begins to taper will again, make him appear taller and broader in the right spots, and if a suit is double-breasted, this is even more so. Lapels are slim and point down in a V, not only adding height, but draws the eye suggestively downward. These are all things that will attract the eye of the opposite sex, make a man's body more attractive, and may intimidate other males of the species. 4. Tie- It's just a big old phallus around the neck, not meant to suggest anything at all. Just a big old colourful penis, made from silk, sitting right there for all the world to see, and conviently pointing to a man's actual penis. The man's modren suit is designed perfectly to emphasize all the positive qualities in a man's body, and attempts to hide the negtive ones. To think that a man's suit wasn't designed to make him look good is just...just foolish.
There wouldn't be a trial. Unless the guy was your boss. Rude co-worker. He either gets reprimanded or fired. You have no grounds to sue unless it was constant and the company ignored your complaints.
So what you are saying, then, is that somebody who wanted to bang you told you what you could do to be more sexy? And that's some sort of chauvinistic dress code? Look, you may have been harassed (can't say, since I don't know the context), but how is that in any way a requirement that you wear heals to work? And I can vouch with the others, that professional dress requirements in my company do not imply heals, just be sure you aren't wearing flip flops.
So a moot point anyway. I never really thought about doing it, until someone mentioned I ought to've. As for the fashion thing , I've said before that I don't know about a lot of things. Until now, I always thought of suits as just "business attire", and not something meant to make someone look sexually attractive. I'm not really a fashion person, though.
So I guess you have learned something here. Now I'm gonna go to the restroom. While I'm back there I'll wedge open the exit so you can slip out.
You remind of my lesbian cousin. Every time I hung out with her she was always trying to talk to the girls I liked.
Same here. Don't care what your skin color is or where you are from if your a hottie I'm over you. I've never understood guys who pass up hot chicks because they are black or asian or blond etc etc.... I guess it must be a genetic thing in their brain.
