    TO THE GUN SHOW!?!?

So I went to my first gun show today.

Interesting. And I'm not just talking about the 'book guy' who tried to tell me that 'Black Art' book really works, he used it to figure out his neighbor was trying to use mind control on him. Some of the books looked pretty interesting, if a little kooky. And of course they had every freakin FM except 7-8.

Ended up bying a S&W .38 Special, so thanks for that EW. Although we didn't get the J-frame. I think you forgot that Anne is taller than me. That J-frame must have been designed for someone with the hands of a... oh... yeah... nevermind. :D Came out to 350 something bucks with tax. I don't have a CPL so I gotta wait till friday to pick it up. Went ahead and became a member of the WAC so I can go to all the gunshows for free now. Only 20 bucks with military I.D. There's one at the end of the month where an NRA lady (there were just volunteers there today) who can sign me up for free (first year free active duty) and then get Anne into a home firearms safety class. I can't believe she's never fired a weapon before.

    Anyway, an interesting day! :techman:

Common courtesty dictates that you post a picture of any firearm that you have recently acquired. :bailey:

6 bucks for non WAC members to get in. 6$ bucks for non-WAC non-military to get in. 3$ for me and Anne.

And just saw what threw you off. The 20 bucks was to become a member of WAC which is required for any firearm purchase. Everything else is free for all.

Damn, that sucks. Oh well you could always mention to the guy that you expect a discount for your troubles. I mean he wouldn't want you going around and badmouthing him to other customers after all.

Eh, I'm off Monday so I'll give him that. However if it keeps getting pushed off, am I allowed to cancel the deal? I've got the recept saying 'Paid'.

    I gots it! :D

Hopefully going to the range with it tomorrow.

However this is the first gun I have ever purchased. Most of the ones I've shot growing up were my fathers. Even the one's that were 'mine' were gifts from my father or grandfather. So I have no idea about registration and all that jazz. Do I have to do anything? Or did the seller take care of all that?

And on the heels of that, I can carry it unloaded in my car without a CPL (getting soon). However do I need to carry any paperwork with it? Will the cops give me shit about it?

You should check the laws in your state regarding carrying of a fire arm. Checkout concealedcarry.net for information about your state. Make sure you click on the link for the specific laws in your state and then cross refrence them with whats actually on the state statutes.

I only had a few legally "registered" handguns and it was quite a while back. Definitely check and double check the laws before you go anywhere! Hate to see you get in trouble for a technicality.

I know I know. She has the camera though. Last week I was in Rilea and now I'm stuck on this gay ass QRF (like Lewis is going to be attacked :dayton: ) meaning I can't leave a 30 minute radius for the next week.

Shit you call that bad? Back in the days of slings and arrows QRF meant you were locked down with your squad for 48 hours. You spent your time in the day room watching pr0n. The only exceptions were for chow (you went to the DFAC in full gear) and personal hygiene in the morning.

Okay, so I can safely say that you weren't 2ID!

Chipyong-ni was where the 23rd Infantry Regiment held off three divisions of Chinese Communist Forces (from a lowground possition that we wanted to move from but was forced to stay and hold back the CCFs from Seoul).

Nope, my active time was spent in the Ranger Punishment brigade (197th IBDE (m) (s)) which was the fore runner to today's brigade combat teams.

 Ok hold on a second. What I meant was that the 197th was a hell hole and basically if one quit being a ranger, they were sent to the 197th. Think of it as the 5th or 6th level of hell for a ranger. Thats why we earned the nick name 'Ranger Punishment Brigade'

    Ah okay, gotcha.

So is the unit still around? Did they get rolled in with someone? What was their patch?

We got rolled at the start of GWI into the 24th ID as the 3rd brigade. They are now 3rd BDE, 3rd ID. We were the worlds largest combat brigade at the time. We were a separate bridge, meaning we carried a lot of our own organic support that a standard brigade in a normal division wouldn't. Like I said a fore runner of todays brigade combat teams. Oh and our patch was affectionately called 'dick in a vise':
