I'll be teaching entry level classes, not advanced classes. So I want to promote safety to new shooters (and a but ton of them are). I was thinking of the shield as promoting defense rather than offense. I am also going to focus on women. That is a huge under served segment of the market and they face too many misogynists. Then again I look at the simplicity of Magpuls logo and I feel like this is over kill/
Call it Frontline security, only do the wings on the right side, and two of them, use them to form the F. Like so.
they're a natural contrast, but the problem I'm seeing is that they're identical values. If you switched to a gray scale, they'd be near identical. Take the match that you have, and then use the colours Question has to mix, I think you'll se what I mean. Otherwise, maybe lift the scheme in your current av? the multi hues in the red and blue there achieve a more interesting balance.
Interesting. I was trying to go with a less "offensive" or pretentious sounding name but I'll keep it in mind.
Just because I have no life on a Saturday, I thought I'd try something else completely: Trying to build off of the rifling in a barrel, but keep it abstract to a degree. Also trying to get to a more rectangular logo if possible. Any thoughts?
OK. Now that I have the context, I think I'm leaning towards A. I prefer Idea 2 to #1 but I'd have to think about them a bit. They lean a bit towards the WWII Japanese flag and the seal for The Empire in Star Wars.
Yeah I thought of that too, but I think I'm running into the issue of "Nearly everything that could be done has been done." So, like with this idea, if one hits my pea brain, then I run with it and if its too close to something else I modify it. I played with it a bit more this morning and this is what I got: I'm liking this the most so far. Simple color, simple design. Thoughts?
I'd say you're on the right track. The shield and wings was fairly generic and had kind of a Canadian Starship Troopers sort of feel. The rifling thing has a bit of a badge motif to it. Yeah, I know the shield/wings also has a badge motif going, but this is more interesting. I think the draft you're working on now would look nice as an embroidered patch or an enamel lapel pin (on chrome, of course) Would also look nice on a business card or letterhead. You can even do a horizontal accent line with it--logo on one side, line across the space, company name above the line, contact info below. Have the far end of the line in a bullet shape or not. But I wouldn't line that up directly with the "muzzle"--leave a little subtlety. Initially I was going to say the downside of this logo is that it needs some kind of "anchor" or border to hold it together, but the more I think about it, I think it works pretty well as is.
You're getting what I'm aiming for. What do you think about this: The corporate name is just a dummy. Someone suggested it earlier so I used it instead of XYZ for the company name. Sorry but Frontline sounds so pretentious, at least for the skill levels that I will be teaching at. The back of the card would list the various courses I would teach (I.e. First Steps Rifle, FS Shotgun, FS, Handgun, Personal Protection in the home, etc...). Finally the Font is Sansation. Of course I like it, doesn't everyone? Yeah one of the things I am trying to keep in mind is that social media wants avatars, which can be separated from the logo, at a 1:1 ratio. Another thing I am considering is stitch count for embroidery. One or two colors are a lot less expensive than 3 or more colors. Complicated patterns cost more. I also want a logo / AV which is abstract enough, but not so abstract that it cant be tied back into the product or service. So with that do you think Im on the right track?
Yeah that thought eventually crossed my mind. Then again consider where I live. Hurricane anyone? Shit why does this have to be so hard? NO. Keep it up bub, keep it up. Shit, you may actually be on to something. Damn you.
A very quick and very crude mockup of the card with a horizontal rule in it: More would cost actual money.
I dunno. I mean there is nothing wrong with it per se, but it seems to miss somehow. It's very generic and wouldn't really stand out to me in a pile of business cards. If you're selling security and safety, you might want to avoid red and black, which subconsciously hits on blood, death, violence....super masculine as well. Maybe blues or greens..which will be more appealing to women in general, since you seem to want that demographic in particular.
Tamar is totally right on colours, you might want to fiddle with a pastel tone on various greys too. I'm not sure the swirl is worth marrying yet either... Stripped down it gets all ninja starry looking. Maybe go back to the wings? chicks are Always telling me wings are better.
I think the font is really cheesy, but I have no better suggestions. This looks very Battlestar Galactica or something.
I decided to play around with Spaceturkey's idea of not using bold/angry colors, and came up with this:
