In this instance why would Obama saying the White House is a dump be worse than Trump?

I thought the fact that the White House was a dump has been pretty much an accepted fact for more than a century. It wasn't designed or built very well and regular maintenance has often been distinctly half assed. It doesn't help that every new president generally wants to make significant changes.

Aside from President Lincoln (for obvious reasons) I don't remember hearing of a single American president who spent the majority of his time there.

Honestly it's time to move the President out of the White House and into a modern building. Let the White House be a museum.

The "progressive" lefties are all pretty much in the same box (aside from the demented one^, who stands alone in imbeciland). Read any WF thread to enter the far left echo chamber.

US conservatives, otoh, are a varied bunch; again, you can see it when a few of the WF right post in the same thread; even when they arrive at the same place, they often got there for different reasons. So, no surprise when some of the millions of conservatives can spot the many flaws in Trump. And even *less* surprise when a conservative paper prints an editorial that Trump's not cutting it, with no big wins, and at best just a bunch of little wins.

Your immediate default to flaming indicates you know you haven't in this forum, so you'll try to change the subject.

If you were intelligent, you'd be able to link to at least one of your criticisms of Trump. If.

Hmm, the prior last three times I used the name Trump. Two unflattering, one neutral.

Ok, I was gracious, so how about you answer one: which is the more likely explanation for you at this point, senility, or dementia? [Or is it just the old standby, talking outta your ass?]

His approval rating is down to just 33%. Other numbers have seen show almost 2/3rds of people say Trump is dishonest.

Basically, he is down to just the kool-aid drinking old Bush 30%. This is why so many Republicans are abandoning him. Even they see he is a disaster, completely incompetent, and a danger to their own reelection chances (which is really all they care about).

    1. Trump is a multi-millionaire, Obama is a "social organizer". Therefore, one can more readily imagine Trump finding a living space below his usual standards without getting into how it reflects on his . . .

    2. . . . patriotism. Trump got into the White House by making a lot of rah-rah America comments, so those who buy into him are less likely to choose the "unpatriotic" explanation over the others. I think we can safely also agree that a lot of Trump supporters are the same people who thought Obama was an un-American Kenyan who was working hard to turn 'Murica over to teh muslims. So, to them, the "unpatriotic" explanation is the natural assumption if Obama had said the same thing.

Meanwhile a liberal is probably rolling his or her eyes at Trump's proclamation as just another sign of what a spoiled brat he is. I mean, I am, and I don't even know what got him annoyed. But then, I'd roll my eyes at Obama saying the same thing, whatever his rationale. That's just a rude thing to say about a national symbol that isn't actively rotting away.

Maybe I didn't phrase the last line unambiguously. It absolutely matters who says a thing, whether you're conservative or liberal or whatever, because the thing will be filtered through your preconceptions about that person, even if the result is maybe it takes a little longer for you to decide "maybe I should find out the context?"

Trump's flaws are not that he is so incompetent he cannot get his agenda passed to make America great again like the trunptardians believe. It is that he never had an idea what to do ninth first place and he is so incompetent he is harming America. However, you are correct we can start separating the right wing into the trumptardian camp and those who have a double digit IQ and can see he is bad for the country. There is still a large chunk of trumptardians who think the reality show is making America great again and he can do no wrong. That will probably always be there as every popular person always has idiot sycophants.

However, just because it is a popular view that trump is a complete nincompoop does not mean it is an invalid point. Lots of people think it is obvious the earth is round, but that does not make flat earthers correct. Do not speak of logic holes when you are in a trump sized one yourself.

Trump is a deeply insecure, pathetic little manchild whose greatest appeal is to other deeply insecure, pathetic little manchildren.

That isn't one of you posts garamet.
garamet, I will say this with perfect honesty and not meaning any offense.

You post here like the Trek authors used to come into the Trek Literature forum at the TrekBBS and post.

Acting like gods descended from Olympus and every thing they type in to be beyond criticism and debate.

I remember David Mack getting all bitchy that I dared criticize his "Lost Destiny" trilogy.

He actually talked along the lines of

"how dare you criticize something I spent more than a year of my life working on....."

So, those early "contentious" calls Trump had with the Mexican and Australian leaders? The ones the White House tried to deny were anything but amicable and productive?

WaPo got hold of the transcripts, and they were pretty much what we heard from sources at the time. One new gem though is that Trump basically admitted to the Mexicans that they wouldn't actually pay for the wall, but if they could not go around telling people "we are never going to pay for the wall" it would help Trump politically as he wouldn't be seen to have failed in his campaign promise.

What I don't get is why the Mexican president would be interested in helping Trump politically. :wtf: Especially when it's going to hurt him politically if he seems to be rolling over for Trump.

Anyway, Trump comes off as really whiny and ineffectual in those transcripts. If anything can dishearten his base it would be the shattering of his tough-guy image.

Nothing can disheartened his base. They are self delusional. It has to be a mental condition. They are completely clue and fact resistant. Also, trump gives their hate an excuse to come out.
