What's hilarious about this is that Obama is repudiating Wright, but McCain is fully embracing numerous nutjobs on the right, and is APPLAUDED for it by his party. Which one is more fucked up? Or do you need to see videos with McCain embracing nutjob #1, 2, and 3, juxtaposed against his hypocritical rhetoric to see who the real threat is?

Hey everybody, look! Another moron bringing up McCain. Ok, I'll say this one last time for cheap seats. I DON"T LIKE McCAIN EITHER!!!!!!!!!!!!

But lets examine this idiocy anyway. McCain embracing religious nuts for political gain is apparently equal to Obama being a member of a racist church for past 20 years, being married by a racist nut, having his children baptized by the same nut, and recognizing said nut as mentor and friend. While McCain is clearly an unacceptable candidate, his actions are not the same as Obamas.

Who on the right is embracing McCain? I know that I sure as hell am not embracing McCain. Quite the contrary in fact. I have no more like for McCain than I do for either of the Democratic candidates. But, at this point, I am not aware of McCain being an active member of a church that promotes hate such as the church that Obama attends and has held membership for the past 20 years.

Another crap poor job at trying to deflect the issue at hand.

Obama is still going to that church, or he would have renounced him membership. You know, like Oprah did.

And the whole McCain issue? Who here supports him?

Exactly. So shut the hell up about that.

So does the above rational in your opinion some how excuse Obama's membership and affiliation with his chosen church of 20 years and his friendship with Jeremiah Wright?

    Okay....

I didn't ask for anyones opinions on Wright, nor did I ask for anyones opinions on Obama in relation to Wright. We've had at least two threads about that already, and they're both going in circles.

What I did ask for was links to Wrights sermons, so I could see and/or read them myself, in context, and make an informed decision about whether or not I consider the man a racist nutjob.

Other than Ryan, I haven't seen anyone provide that. What gives?

I'll see what I can dig up myself, and I'll get back to you when I find something.

Those links that you have requested have been provided in the threads which specifically deal with these two subjects. Would you like links to the posts in which those links have already been provided?

14th Doctor and Ryan, these links are nothing new. The following is a link to a post in which I provided numerous links to both print and video footage of Jeremiah Wright spewing his hate and racist propaganda.

    From the other thread

I already posted two links to the sermons in context. It's starting to look like there's really nothing there with all the obfuscation going on.

Well do feel free to check out the link that I provided in my earlier post or the one that I am once again providing in this post.

The sources are from a variety of sources and not simply one. They also include video.

Unfortunately considering that I have already posted these before, I'm not sure if they will be bothered to be looked at.

It appears Ryan didn't bother to look at them even after for footage, or etc. showing that Jeremiah Wright had made the comments that people are saying he made. 14th, maybe you'll be different and will actually take the time to look at them.

Same old same old... been there done that with this link.

    What did he talk about?

Did one of them happen to be where he trumpeted up Obama and slammed Hillary because she's never been called a 'nigger?'

Yep, that's one Kirk posted way back. You can certainly argue about the extent, but I'm not sure how you could argue America hasn't had problems with race let alone claim its racist to even mention it.

I've posted plenty which cover a number of things that Wright said regarding this country, its people and the "plight" of blacks in this country.

The first link didn't work for me. I tried it twice.

The second link had a video. I haven't watched it yet.

The third link provides some excerpts from one speech, but I'm hesitant to say anything without reading the speech in its entirety. I don't think that's unreasonable.

The fourth link includes excerpts the "God dam America" sermon, but again it doesn't provide the full text of the sermon. That's what I'm looking for.

The fifth link is to a right-wing blog. It didn't provide the full text of any of Wrights sermons.

The sixth link is to an editorial, and doesn't provide the full text of any of Wrights sermons.

The seventh link was also to an editorial. No full text of any of Wrights speeches, no excerpts I didn't already see in the other links.

The eighth link was simply a short synopsis of the story from Monday.

I appreciate the attempts, but I'm not seeing what I asked for.

I'll watch the video from the second link, and respond to it after.

I don't see what that does to discount the racism in what Wright said.

Not to mention the AIDs comment, which I assume you've also seen. Then there is the part where talks about the 'KKK of America.'

The man is a racist bigot. And it should bother any Obama supporter that he stood by him for 20 years.

And to date, has not condemned Wright for what he said. Sure, he denounced the statements, but he didn't condemn Wright.

Well I'm sorry the links didn't meet your expectations. As for the first link not working, hey those things change from day to day especially when they are news publications. I posted those links a few days ago.

Feel free to do some additional research into the matter yourself. I'd be interested in seeing some of the results.

I do find it interesting though that you are being a tad bit critical of the sources provided to you, yet haven't offered up any of your own on the subject with the claim that they wouldn't be accepted by others for whatever reason.

Better yet, go buy the sermons on DVD.

That way you'll have them in its entirety, and you'll be able to see if there is any difference to what Wright says when looked at in context to the rest of the sermon.

I doubt it very much though.

This is what I view to be the issue. There is a strong dislike for some problems and in this case significant problems in my opinion with Barack Obama being discovered by those who are supporting the man. I think there are a few people who do not want to see these problems with Obama as problems. In order to not let these problems bother they will first and foremost act as if there isn't anything wrong with what he's done. They will be critical of those who are identifying problems and finally will equivocate the problems in an attempt to make the problems seem to be something less than they truly are.

    Bang on.

What attracted people to Obama was a positive message. And a message of change. But when you get right down to it, is any of this real? Looking back at slavery in order to move forward? What about the blacks who have moved forward and don't want any part of the using slavery as a crutch for today's failures?

Well, I know that Reverend Wright sees us as Uncle Toms who just refuse to get it. Wonder what Obama's thoughts are...or maybe he's too afraid to be called a half-assed, high-yella, redboned, oreo Tom. If that's a major concern for him, then that's too bad. But how the hell is he going to stand-up to enemies and competitors at home and abroad if he can't stand up to Uncle Jeremiah?

"In a country and a culture controlled by rich white people."

"He ain't white, he ain't rich, and he ain't privileged.'"

"Hillary can never know that, Hillary can never be called a nigger."

"Hillary has never had to work twice as hard to get accepted by the rich white people."

"Hillary never had her own people say she wasn't white enough."

    Yeah, no racism there. :borg:

    Sickening to watch that.

Which is the problem. Obama is a very likable man in my opinion. He is a remarkable orator as well. He is someone that I honestly wouldn't have a problem listening to on a Sunday morning for a church service. I wouldn't mind listening to him in some sort of motivational speech and etc. But let's face it, there is a problem there.

If he wasn't worried about how people would react to Jeremiah Wright why on earth would he and his campaign uninvite the man to his invocation last year?

Listen, if you've been exposed to all of the links on WF, if you've seen all of the relevant news reports about Pastor Wright and still don't think think he's a racist, you're never gonna think he's a racist.

If that's the case, then you and I have a fundamental difference of opinion and further discussion is pointless.
